There are numerous unique challenges involved in managing a large model environment, and there's a scarcity of documented workflows or solutions to tackle them. This presentation will discuss the issues encountered while managing the Revit models for MEP systems of a new 1.3 million-square-foot hospital, and the innovative solutions that were implemented. Using tools such as Ideate, Clarity, BIM Interoperability Checker, BIM 360 Model Coordination, and others, a powerful BIM 360 model environment was established that was capable of handling the vast amount of data and elements required to document the hospital. This presentation will not present a definitive solution, but rather a foundation for generating additional ideas and workflows for future large projects.
