This hands-on lab will introduce engineers and designers to the world of using CAM to program computer numerical control (CNC) machines and its connection to the design process. Through a series of guided exercises in Autodesk Fusion CAM, you'll gain practical experience in setting up stock material and coordinate systems, choosing tools, defining machining operations (including machining boundaries), simulating the toolpaths, and generating G-code for a CNC milling machine. This session will equip you to better communicate with CAM programmers and optimize your designs for manufacturability.

In today's rapidly evolving design landscape, efficiency and customization are key factors in staying ahead of the curve. With the abundance of existing standard content in AutoCAD Mechanical software, you can now harness the power of these resources to craft your own bespoke mechanical components. Users can pick from more than half a million standard predesigned parts, ranging from nuts and bolts across 18 different standards. By using these standard parts as building blocks, you can significantly expedite your design process and ensure the building of custom content with industry standards. Once you've selected the foundational components, the real magic begins: customization. Whether it's adjusting dimensions, altering materials, or adding intricate details, the ability to tailor each component ensures that the final design aligns perfectly with your vision. By building a library of custom content, you can streamline the design work, reduce redundancy, and maintain consistency in your projects.

Ensuring accuracy in a large set of construction documents can be complicated. Spelling errors, missed annotation, and multiple users on a project can still waste a project's budget time when they don't need to. Automating the keynote creating and editing process can help eliminate these time wasters, saving considerable time and money for some of our most basic needs. This lesson will cover a feature in AutoCAD software that will use an Excel file as one source of truth for keynotes on construction documents. We'll create a table that will be dynamically populated with keynotes as they are used in a drawing, allowing for concise tables that, along with the Excel file, can be updated together to match for the duration of project design. Any engineering discipline using AutoCAD will be able to use this workflow.

In this technical session, we'll go through the entire corridor workflow using the new corridor interface. Here we'll look at creating a corridor with multiple baselines (alignments and feature lines). We'll also add corridor transitions to the model and review best practices. We'll also incorporate several custom subassemblies into the model. This will be an in-depth look at ways these new tools can improve our corridor model.

Some consider AutoLISP, like Latin, to be a "dead" language. Nothing could be further from the truth! AutoLISP is an API built into AutoCAD software that's highly accessible, easy to write, and easy to debug. It provides comprehensive access to the underlying AutoCAD engine, allowing you to create new commands that can automate many tasks and change the way you interact with the program on a daily basis. We will demonstrate how to write a series of small, useful programming examples that provide examples of solid coding techniques—combined with unique, purpose-driven functionality for production drafting and design—which you can build upon after the session into larger and more complex routines. Even with little programming experience, participants will gain a wealth of knowledge about how to use the AutoLISP API to automate daily tasks, and how to use AutoCAD and its associated applications to increase productivity.

Parametric design tools aren't just for programs like Inventor, Revit, InfraWorks, or Civil 3D software; there's a set of parametric drawing tools that you can use to create dynamic relationships and constraints between objects in AutoCAD software as well. The parametric drawing tools will revolutionize the way that you draw and edit objects in AutoCAD. This class will introduce you to parametric drawing in AutoCAD by using both geometric and dimensional constraints to add intelligence to your objects. You will learn how using AutoConstrain and Infer Constraints modes can help you quickly add constraints and change your process from drafting to modeling. If you've ever wanted geometry in your drawing to update based on changes that you've made to other objects, or if you've wanted to type a new value into a dimension and have the object update based on this new value—then this class is for you.

Ever wish you could visualize real-world data without leaving the comfort of your own office? Sound too wonderful to be true? Well, it isn't. Sending crews into the field to measure and collect information about assets is time consuming and costly. But when you have street-level spherical imagery and colorized LIDAR (light detection and ranging) data at hand, you have the freedom to quickly, accurately, and cost-effectively create photorealistic 3D models for planning, design, emergency and disaster management, regulatory compliance, and asset management. We'll explore the collection process and business implications for street-level reality capture and examine 2 alternatives, such as Google Street View and CycloMedia. We'll also discuss practical workflows for municipal governments using this data, including design and visualization, with a focus on water asset management and pavement surface markings. Finally, we'll describe how to effectively integrate these data sources with AutoCAD Civil 3D software and InfraWorks software.

In this class we are going to look at how we can create and model geological data with the Geotechnical Module in AutoCAD Civil 3D software. The class will cover how to import and generate boring holes and surfaces in AutoCAD Civil 3D software, and then we'll go on to cover the essential techniques in modeling the subsurface data. The class will see how to use Feature Lines and Break Lines to mold and manipulate AutoCAD Civil 3D software surfaces to model geotechnical features. We will then learn how to convert the AutoCAD Civil 3D surfaces into AutoCAD software 3D solids ready for use in other software systems like Revit software and InfraWorks software. This class is designed to assist you in your understanding of the techniques used to model and visualize substrata in order to better understand and present information.
