One AutoCAD software became available to AutoCAD subscription customers when AutoCAD 2019 software became available in March 2018. AutoCAD subscription customers can now work faster with specialized AutoCAD toolsets, which include industry-specific features and libraries for architecture, mechanical design, electrical design, and more. A subscription to One AutoCAD enables automation of floor plans, sections, elevations, and other drawings; accurate design of piping, plumbing, and ducting for faster design with mechanical tools; and design of ductwork, electrical conduit, and circuiting for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical with MEP. Shaun Bryant, AutoCAD guru and AutoCAD Influencer, will take you through the benefits of the One AutoCAD subscription, demonstrating how to utilize the toolsets and make them available to your AutoCAD design team, regardless of discipline and industry.

Have you experienced any of these issues with AutoCAD products: slow opening of drawings, crashing, pausing within AutoCAD, and slow plotting? Clients, sub-consultants, and approving agencies often have DWG™ files that get corrupted. This can cause loss of work and missed deadlines. Drawing corruption can range from small annoying issues to being unable to open or print files. This corruption can affect your files and spread across your projects rapidly. In this session, we will explore methodologies and workflows to prevent files from getting corrupted due to internal and external factors. We will review 7 things that cause drawing slowness, and we’ll show how to repair the drawings.

Are you still manually installing your newest Autodesk products? Once you’ve created a deployment package using Autodesk’s deployment tools, you need to quickly get it to the user’s system. Would you like to save several hours and be consistent with your deployments? If you stay current with your deployments and organize them so you can deliver them at any time, you will automatically save time. By continuously testing releases, creating deployments, and delivering them silently, you can move into an efficient as-needed deployment delivery mode. As a case study, we will review the process used by KTGY Architecture + Planning to deploy Autodesk products to more than 400 systems across 7 offices and 2 countries. AutoCAD Plant 3D has quickly become a premier solution for piping design in the plant community. For a complete plant project deliverable, we need to understand the best practices in being interoperable with additional Autodesk® products. While some of these products,such as AutoCAD® Revit® Structure and Autodesk® Navisworks® software, exist in Autodesk® Plant Design Suite, there is also a need outside of the suite to create mechanical, HVAC, and electrical models. This class will focus on how to bring all of these premier Autodesk applications together for a complete interoperable plant project that greatly enhances overall coordination.

Do you maintain AutoCAD platform tools for a bunch of users? Do you have to support branch offices? If so, this class will help you get your AutoCAD environment under optimal control via AutoLISP® customization, CUI customization, and a unique way of synchronizing networked content with the user's machine to achieve maximum speed. We will cover centrally located standards content such as palettes, CUIs, plotting files, databases, blocks, and other content using a combination of profiles, project folders, registry access, and AutoLISP to control it all. Particular attention will be paid to achieving maximum speed for the user. All concepts will be presented using a sample environment that you can alter to fit your company immediately after class. Whether you use plain AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D®, AutoCAD Architectural, or AutoCAD Mechanical, this class will give you the knowledge you need to finally get all your AutoCAD tools under centralized control with maximum speed.

External reference (xref) is one of the key concepts in AutoCAD software. In AutoCAD 2018, we addressed this pain by providing smarter options that help reduce the pain created by a broken reference-and even if you're in a quagmire of missing references, we provide tools that will help you smartly search and fix the broken paths. And we all love layers-layers are a drafter's best friend-but often the challenge is how to effectively manage xref layer properties in the host drawing and the ability to control the xref layer property overrides without the need of having to change SYSVARs umpteen times. In this class, I intend to show how to effectively use the 3 key system variables-XREFOVERRIDE, VISRETAIN, and VISRETAINMODE-to choose either all xref layer properties to always sync, or selectively choose a few layer properties to sync and reload and keep the overrides for the other properties without the need to change SYSVAR values and open and close your host drawing file.

To work effectively, AutoCAD Civil 3D software requires all sorts of data, including Templates, Tool Palettes, Catalogs, Subassemblies, and so on. Now, add in a need for users to be more mobile. How does someone understand what this data is, maintain an updated standard set, and enable users to be mobile and work away from the office—all with the company standards in place? That’s where this class comes in. We will summarize all data required to make AutoCAD Civil 3D software simply purr. We’ll then teach you how to use Windows Batch files (no experience required) to set up a simple CAD data-syncing system between user machines and your server master copy. This will enable users to disconnect from the company network and still have AutoCAD Civil 3D software fully functional. When users log back into the network, they will automatically get any updates made to the CAD data. Sound like a pipe dream? It’s not. It’s simple and easy to set up. This class will cover 2 separate workflows uploading data to BIM 360 Ops software. Attendees will get an in-depth look at the process UCHealth employed to upload data to BIM 360 Ops directly from Revit software for the Greeley hospital project, and through BIM 360 Glue software and BIM 360 Field software for the Highlands Ranch Hospital project. As the title of this session indicates, we will share lessons learned. Attendees will get an overview of the team structure and data flow, as well as a deeper dive into how to overcome the challenges the UCHealth team encountered, such as parameter concatenation, data revision, and uploading of information changes. This course will be a combination of Microsoft PowerPoint and live demonstration, and will include Revit, BIM 360 Ops, Dynamo, BIM 360 Glue, and BIM 360 Field.

This class will be an introduction to the Object Modeling Framework API, which is a powerful extension of AutoCAD software’s ObjectARX API, and is the backbone for products like AutoCAD Architecture software, AutoCAD MEP software, and AutoCAD Civil 3D software. To begin with, we will introduce AutoCAD software’s ObjectARX API to set the platform for product customization using API. Subsequently, the class will cover some important theoretical concepts in the Object Modeling Framework API, which will be supported by ready-to-demo sample applications. In addition, the class will cover a step-by-step demo for developing a new Object Modeling Framework application to demonstrate creation of custom objects and related features. The class will focus on educating the attendees about how to use the Object Modeling Framework API to automate and simplify their day-to-day design activities. The demo samples chosen will be relevant to industry-specific workflows as supported in AutoCAD Architecture software and AutoCAD MEP software. The class will also cover information about managed version (.NET) of the Object Modeling Framework API and overall API documentation that is available. AutoCAD MEP 2015 software, a world-class design and drafting application, is the Zen master of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design software. The software continues to lead the way in everything from design to fabrication to owner for excellent workflows. In this fast-paced lecture we will take a look at creating custom content. We will start by using Inventor software to create a more detailed model. Next, we will use this model to create a new multiview part. Once the part is defined you will learn a quick way to use the new symbol and annotation planes to add line-based symbols, and then you'll create a new catalog to store your custom content. Every AutoCAD MEP software user should learn how to use the overwhelming volume of manufacturer's 3D content; this lab will help you learn how to do that.

The country’s leading mechanical contractors were some of the earliest adopters of Building Information Modeling (BIM) due to the vast potential for off-site prefabrication. Nearly ten years after its first BIM project, J.C. Cannistraro is sharing some lessons learned from modeling, fabricating, and building some of the most high-profile hospital and biotech projects in the Northeast. Using primarily Autodesk® Navisworks® and Autodesk® Fabrication software, we will explain how we use collaborative thinking, Lean methodology, and BIM tools throughout the preconstruction and construction phases to maximize the efficiency of delivery and installation on every project.
