This session will demonstrate a number of use cases, including how PlanGrid is helping build and maintain railways, Assemble is being used to quantify materials in dams, BuildingConnected is being used to source subcontractors for road projects, and BIM 360 software is being used to manage complex infrastructure projects. We will also show how Autodesk partners are being used in conjunction with Construction Cloud products to help infrastructure asset owners better use the data collected on a project.

As an engineering firm, how do you implement PlanGrid in a department where the vast majority of projects are small, and the general contractor is not using any of these tools? We had to tweak and adjust what seems to be the intended use of PlanGrid to match our needs. We had our road map all plan for and then Covid sent all of our employees home. It forced us to reconsider our entire approach of deployment and management. At the end of the day, using tablets with PlanGrid allowed us to maintain business continuity while keeping our staff safe as they didn’t have to go to the office and plot drawings.

PlanGrid has been taking the construction world by storm ever since its creation in the early 2010s. Thousands of projects throughout the world have utilized this product, and it is widely used by general contractors as well as subcontractors. This session is a follow-up of the class presented last year about the “Virtual construction site management with advanced workflow in BIM360” (CS468465). We will describe the improvements made this year through the adoption of the Build module including the PlanGrid Build mobile app for field workers. We’ve been widely extending the use of Construction Cloud with digitalization of other construction processes in addition of those already implemented. We are focusing our attention on setting up a workflow for safety and environmental check in the work site.Using Forge and Construction Cloud Connect, we are developing integration with other company database and Legacy IT systems, to avoid data redundancy and to build up integrated dashboards. In upcoming years we will be able to manage and improve the construction process of linear infrastructure projects with ConstructionCloud in order to improve data quality, reduce costs and time by 60%, reduce wastefulness and promote sustainability

PlanGrid became an Autodesk company in 2018, and provides a browser- and app-based tool to work with smart drawings during the construction phase of a project. Setting up a project and linking drawings to the project is a simple process and lets you take advantage of mobile technology on the construction site. AutoCAD guru and LinkedIn learning [in]structor Shaun Bryant (CadJedi) will show you how to prepare an AutoCAD 2D drawing project, with associated drawings for use in PlanGrid. He’ll take you through the necessary housekeeping required in AutoCAD, demonstrate how to add the drawings to the PlanGrid project, and show you the associated benefits PlanGrid provides when on-site.
