AFRY Switzerland's “AFRY Bellinzona regional hub” is a prime example. Located in a historic Swiss town of Bellinzona, the 2,000 m² space was transformed from an unused commercial site into flexible, modern offices. Autodesk tools were used throughout: Recap for reality capture, Revit for model authoring, ACC for clash detection and coordination, AR visualisation, site reporting, and a Digital Workplace prototype with Tandem. was a top priority—repurposing the existing space helped meet initial goals, with recycled materials and 90% reused furniture from previous offices.

The Terminal 2 Baggage Programme (T2BP) at Heathrow aims to replace the aging T2 baggage system linked to Terminal 1. The new solution will be implemented in five phases across 21 construction projects, grouped by physical and operational attributes. A major challenge was managing design risks through different organizations and suppliers that interface at key areas in a live operational environment. The manual Excel processes used to record design risks led to difficulties in maintaining a single source of truth, causing duplication and errors. The goal was to find a streamlined, digital solution to standardize processes and enable monitoring and reporting through dashboards. After researching data environments, Construction Cloud was chosen for its suitability to manage design risk information, requiring customization through trial and feedback. The solution also provided integration with augmented reality (AR) for live inspections.

We will cover the workflow used to scan an object with a LiDAR scanner on your mobile device, and introduce it to Revit software using ReCap software. This point cloud will be used as the base of your model. During the session, we will do a live preview of how the process is done, going step by step until we generate a file that we can import and use in Revit.

Caltrans, in coordination with our software partners Autodesk, Trimble, and ESRI, is in the process of developing a digital geospatial ecosystem to centralize, standardize, and connect Caltrans' digital data across programs and divisions. New tools in Civil3D 2024 and Trimble Business Center have been developed and are being tested to assist with the needed data interoperability. The system aims to increase engagement, equity, innovation, integrity, pride, safety, climate action, stewardship, and efficiency by using tools of today and working with industry to develop tools of tomorrow. This Caltrans effort will support FHWA initiatives such as BIM4I to streamline data connectivity for Project Delivery and create, maintain, and provide access to a statewide digital catalog of Caltrans assets. The proposed milestones include beta testing new industry tools, creating project delivery dashboards, integrating digital as-built data from Construction's connected data environment, and developing new project delivery products such as mapping on demand and augmented reality in the field.

Habitat 67 is a model community and housing complex in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, designed by Israeli-Canadian architect Moshe Safdie. It is one of the most recognizable projects in modular urbanization and construction. Sadly, what was built is only a fraction of Safdie's original design. The existing structure was intended to be the first phase of a much larger complex, but budget restrictions meant his original vision never came to life. Until today. In this class, you'll learn how Unreal Engine was used to create an immersive and interactive experience of the original Habitat 67. You'll explore the value of using Unreal Engine to bring architectural designs to life, and discover how 3ds Max software was used in the creation of this project, in addition to RealityCapture.

How do you turn one of the most recognized buildings in the United States into an immersive digital experience? This case study will present the development behind an innovative immersive installation created in partnership with Cortina Productions and the White House Historical Association. Using real-time rendering and radar touch technology, a rectangular exhibition space was transformed into multiple rooms of the White House in The People’s House. We’ll walk through the project’s inception, from the 3D scanning of artifacts to the resolution of visual discrepancies between digital architecture and the physical limitations. A central challenge of the project was translating the rooms—each with unique dimensions and architectural features—into a single rectangular physical space, without sacrificing immersion. The talk will cover strategies for preserving historical accuracy while working efficiently, including the challenges of scale, optimization, material research, and accessibility.
