We all know the advantages of using Revit software for modeling and design, but when it comes to getting your MEP fabrication documents generated from the model, you better have a plan. Creating assembly drawings is a great tool, but too many of them and your model will come to a crawl. Modular fabrication and design for manufacturing and assembly (DfMA) have also been hot topics over the last few years, and that adds a whole new set of challenges. We will show you the tips we use to model and detail modular skids and standardized DfMA components in Revit. We'll also cover how we manage hangers and all the fabrication documents, and the methods required to make the shop and field successful.

The MEP industry has experienced a swift adoption of various digital tools, resulting in a growing demand for data exchange between diverse software applications. However, the fragmented nature of the ecosystem often leads to inconsistencies and errors in data transfer, making it difficult to maintain a seamless MEP workflow. This course aims to explore how you can maximize Revit software's Data Exchange feature to overcome the challenge of data curation and sharing. We'll delve into various use cases, including exchanging grids and levels, identifying and selecting elements from specific data exchanges incorporated into your model, transferring central plant models from Inventor software to Revit, and working with room data by using Microsoft Power Automate. You'll learn how to create and share data exchanges and how to consume data exchanges that have been created and shared by users of both Autodesk and non-Autodesk software.

Do you need an expanded database of fabrication parts? In this session, we'll show you how to build a custom part from scratch in Fabrication CADmep software, and how to add it to your database to be used in your configuration within Revit Fabrication. This technical instruction will also give you an idea of a new workflow for furthering the Revit design-intent model to detail for fabrication intent. This workflow has the potential to improve project quality as well as save time and money.

This class will discuss the uses of Revit families, data, scheduling, and the Revit API to push Revit content to the prefabrication factory floor. We'll discuss what goes into the families, how we condition the families for prefabrication-specific content, and how we pull that content out with custom tools to send to the factory floor. We'll cover the main issues of communication between the design team and the prefabrication team, how we've solved these issues, what we output for the team, and how they use it to create the preconstruction packages.

In this presentation, we'll look at managing Autodesk Fabrication service and profiles to use the content flexibility that Revit provides. We will explore how to quickly set up a new profile with services designed to get the model started with minimal information. We will discuss what to include in the services, what should instead be added to the parts tab as needed, and how this expedites project startup and allows for quality control checking. We will go over what services should be included in a new profile and how that allows for "on the fly" changing of material and connection types in the model. We will explore a method of creating and tracking customized services and specifications within a profile. And we will discuss using "reload configuration" as a quality control check. All of this will lead to a faster, leaner, more productive workflow.

Until recently, the construction industry has suffered a technology bypass, relying on centuries-old processes to manage projects that are getting more complex and demanding faster execution. This class will discuss how Building Information Modeling (BIM) is making a shift by industrializing construction and setting up off-site assembly lines for manufacturing modules that can just be assembled on-site by a lean team. Case studies will be discussed from several iconic, global project executions where assembly line manufacturing construction processes were deployed for amazingly fast construction, reducing the on-site work, wastages, and costs. The main focus of this class is using BIM to support modular design and industrialized construction. Attendees will learn when and how to set up these assembly lines and the challenges associated with them.

This lab is designed to give you a feel for the ease of use of Advance Steel software, the structural steel package that’s got the industry talking. You’ll create a structural model from scratch and then insert automated connections between structural sections. You’ll also learn how to insert more-complex structural elements, such as stairs. You’ll then generate fabrication drawings of the structural model you’ve created. Finally, you’ll generate bills of materials (BOMs) and cutting files, such as DXFs and NCs, from your structural model.

To maintain competitive advantage, more and more structural engineers are trying to find a way to capitalize on their Building Information Modeling (BIM) data for steel detailing and fabrication. This class will explore how Autodesk Advance Steel is proving to be the missing link that lets structural engineers capitalize on their Revit Structure design models for steel detailing and fabrication. You will also learn how to create automated steel connections on structural members imported from Revit software. You will then learn how to create the automated fabrication and erection drawings and NC files. This class will also show how the bidirectional sync between Autodesk Revit and Autodesk Advance Steel lets you bring any Revit changes into Advance Steel software or validate Advance Steel models in Revit software.

We'll then publish, share, and review the detailed models and associated documentation via BIM 360 software.
