The Volterra-Detroit Foundation (VDF) set out on a mission to digitize the history of Volterra, which dates back beyond the Roman era into the ancient histories of the Etruscan era. VDF won an Epic MegaGrant from Epic Games to use the Unreal Engine back in 2020. Now, with Autodesk and Epic partnering even closer, there are so many wonderful workflows that we've used to activate all the survey data into Autodesk and Epic products. This class will focus on taking data from products like ReCap Pro, ReCap Photo, InfraWorks, Revit, and 3ds Max software into the world of Epic with products like RealityCapture, RealityScan, Twinmotion, Quixel, and the Unreal Engine. This will be an in-depth technical course that shows the picks and clicks involved in getting through some of the toughest challenges the foundation faced while digitally preserving the wonderful history of Volterra.

While professional artists use high-fidelity animation techniques—pioneered and refined by Autodesk's animation products MotionBuilder, 3ds Max, and Maya—in games, film, and design production pipelines, we ask the questions: What if the user is not as skilled? What if their requirements for control are not as stringent Could we leverage new input modalities to allow untrained creators to record and edit 3D motion in just a few minutes? We'll discuss the speed and utility afforded by animating in a completely new paradigm: One that allows you to express intent with your body, fingers, face, gaze, and speech while enhancing presence, storytelling, and collaboration in real-time immersive experiences, and engaging your spatial understanding, reasoning, and memory to author 3D animations. Come and hear what our panel of experts from Meta Platforms, Workshop XR, Entertainment and Media Solutions as well as Autodesk Research have to say.

The assessment of CAD is extremely resource intensive. Dr. Tom Peach of University College London (UCL) estimates that marking Fusion 360 submissions for a single cohort takes two months of man hours, without even considering the time spent delivering content and supporting students. The session will outline how this entire process was completely automated by Fabrio this year, turning around 1500 submissions within a day. Grades were ready for students 50 times faster, while also improving accuracy. Integrating Fabrio into UCL's teaching plans addressed a number of key pain points faced by institutions across the world, including developing content, low staff-to-student ratios, and general limitations in assessment styles. This session will also highlight how the same learning paradigms can be applied in the corporate space (e.g., onboarding, upskilling, or preparing for certification).

An often-overlooked sustainability challenge in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry is: What should we do with all existing individual houses? Current technology enables sustainable design of new houses. However, climate change cannot be addressed without tackling the existing building stock. More than 62 million single-family houses need thorough renovation if we are to fulfill the EU climate ambitions by 2050. This means tackling 6,000 houses per day, starting today—in Europe alone! We'll demonstrate how artificial intelligence (AI), and generative design will support building owners and architects to quickly come up with new sustainable design options, ready for industrialized prefabrication with standardized elements. In this session, you'll learn how AI can add flexibility in the design with standardized elements. You'll find inspiration for a new balance between standardization and flexibility. We'll show applications for detached houses as well as terraced houses with complex shapes and requirements.
