This case study will explore the first-ever commercial drone operations permitted within the rim of the Grand Canyon, and how the imagery captured was used to inform a critical water infrastructure project. Grand Canyon National Park, in Northern Arizona, is considered one of the seven natural wonders of the world. It encompasses an impressive 278 miles of the Colorado River and adjacent uplands and averages more than 10 miles wide. To support work to modernize the Grand Canyon Water System—which serves thousands of residents and millions of annual visitors—we used drones, surveying, and LiDAR technology to acquire high-resolution orthomosaic images and point clouds. In this digital transformation success story, we also employed Autodesk tools such as AutoCAD Civil, ReCap, Revit, and other Autodesk products.

In this session, we'll walk through an end-to-end cloud-centered workflow on using large point-cloud data for detailed design using ReCap Pro software and the Autodesk Construction Cloud platform. We will share simple tools to prepare surfaces, intelligently decimate large point-cloud data, publish to Autodesk Construction Cloud, and collaboratively extract design elements (like curbs, gutters, median, walls, ADA ramps, driveways, and drainage breaklines) and assets via browser and take them into detailed design technology like Civil 3D software to generate highly accurate surface models. Users can also publish the extracted features and assets to ArcGIS to use the information across the organization. This is a workflow the point cloud industry has been wanting for decades!

This session will detail how to use Revit software and building information modeling (BIM) for complete load calculation with the help of API development, from power outlets to lighting fixtures and up to the main switchboard. In an underground railway station project, a total load of approximately 4,000 amps has been successfully calculated for the electrical system design. We understand there are difficulties to simultaneously use BIM for electrical engineering, 3D modeling, and 2D drawings in a single model. This case study will demonstrate it can be successfully achieved with great efficiency. We'll explore: 1. How to make smart families that are efficient and easy to use for calculation and 3D and 2D representation. 2. How to connect the circuits and pass the load upstream for the whole system, including UPS and duty-standby situations. 3. How to calculate electrical load from other disciplines, such as HVAC and Comms. 4. How to calculate electrical load from other models, e.g., electrical load from tunnel models to station model.

A cross-industry technology fusion! We used Autodesk Generative Design software to create an adaptive connector bracket for robot-operated 3D scans of ancient structures. ReCap software and Dynamo helped us study traditional construction methods and enrich our restoration efforts. This report covers our process in Autodesk Fusion 360 software, including entering design parameters and extracting constraints from the historical site. It explains how we turned the bracket's requirements into criteria for rapid iteration and selection, quickly finding the best solution. It also explains how ReCap processed robot-collected point cloud data to investigate architectural principles and features of ancient buildings in Southern China. Finally, it describes how Dynamo converted these insights into automated building information modeling (BIM) scripting, bridging historical knowledge with modern technology for efficient restoration practices.

We will cover the workflow used to scan an object with a LiDAR scanner on your mobile device, and introduce it to Revit software using ReCap software. This point cloud will be used as the base of your model. During the session, we will do a live preview of how the process is done, going step by step until we generate a file that we can import and use in Revit.

Andrew Cameron, project manager with Hensel Phelps, will share his insights from pioneering 360-degree reality capture on his project, the $1.2 billion Harvey Milk Terminal 1 at the San Francisco International Airport, since 2016. He and his team of 16 field engineers have worked closely with HoloBuilder over the last three years to invent and build out many of the workflows and features that are essential on tens of thousands of construction sites around the world today, including 360-degree markups and the JobWalk app itself. He will discuss how to use 360-degree documentation to drive value on a billion-dollar project for the client, stakeholders, and his project team. He will also share his experiences of how to successfully partner with construction technology providers to build the technologies you always wanted. To highlight the team’s successful innovation partnership, he will reveal the latest co-developed solutions to speed up and even automate reality capture on projects.

It is increasingly adopted in construction projects and specially in Kuwait's projects.This presentation will uncover one of the mega BIM projects in Kuwait "Kuwait International Airport Terminal 2" project. During the presentation, the attendees will see the progress of the project and how " LIMAK Insaat " which is the main contractor literally implemented BIM during the construction phase. The presentation will also show the clash detection procedures followed and what LIMAK Insaat is doing beyond 3D modeling in this magnificent project.

Ever wish you could visualize real-world data without leaving the comfort of your own office? Sound too wonderful to be true? Well, it isn't. Sending crews into the field to measure and collect information about assets is time consuming and costly. But when you have street-level spherical imagery and colorized LIDAR (light detection and ranging) data at hand, you have the freedom to quickly, accurately, and cost-effectively create photorealistic 3D models for planning, design, emergency and disaster management, regulatory compliance, and asset management. In this session, we'll showcase the workflows we use with the Autodesk Construction Cloud platform on large health projects, including a full end-to-end example of how data is used from Model Checker for Revit, Navisworks 2024 with no file management clash runs, and Autodesk Construction Cloud issue creation, as well as tracking scope changes in models using Autodesk Takeoff. As teams work in Revit, data updates are automatically passed to a central database, combined with Autodesk Construction Cloud data, and then sent back to Autodesk Construction Cloud as additional Insight Dashboards integrated with existing data to simplify and highlight trends in clashes, and scope changes during the tendering and construction phase. We will also present some additional tools we've been using to close resolved clash issues automatically. And we'll show our additional Revit building information modeling (BIM) file which contains zones, levels, and rooms to support tracked changes to scope in takeoff with data trending. Finally, we will present a simple way to extract all parameters using Autodesk Construction Cloud asset model extraction for handover.
