Learn the workflow to place embankment around the coastal regions by using InfraWorks software to create a conceptual design. Use Flood Simulation to simulate, visualize, and analyze 2D flood simulations in the model and export from InfraWorks to Civil 3D software for the detailed design, with all the model information. Finally, use IoT to monitor the embankment after construction. This system will enable early detection of disturbing phenomena or events occurring in the flood embankments, thus enabling early response and prevention of crisis.

This session will look at replacing 3D CAD with AutoCAD Plant 3D software because an owner wants P&ID intelligence and automatic orthos. We’ll show how it is broke and how to fix it. T-O Engineers will discuss Architecture, Engineering & Construction Collection implementation for AutoCAD P&ID software, AutoCAD Plant 3D software, Navisworks software, and Civil 3D software.

Integrating building performance analysis results in the early stage of conceptual design supports effective design exploration and decision making. Such integration requires domain expertise and can be technically challenging, time consuming, and computationally expensive. Machine learning demonstrates great potential for building seamless workflows that provide faster analysis feedback. However, one of the challenges in the architecture domain is the lack of diverse data sets to train effective prediction models. This talk will provide a brief overview of the potential of machine learning in building analysis-prediction models and demonstrate how we can capitalize on generative design to compensate for the lack of data. We will present a workflow where generative design features for Revit software, Dynamo software, and Insight software are used to generate a synthetic data set for training a machine-learning model for energy-analysis prediction.

This course will focus on instructing new users on how to use the Inventor CAM add-on to create milling toolpaths. You will learn the key skills and knowledge required to take a 3D model, set it up in the CAM environment, and assign the toolpaths needed to generate the computer numerical control (CNC) code required by milling machines. The demonstration in this class will focus on a simple design that requires 2D milling toolpaths. This will let us stay focused on the workflow and learn how to create the toolpaths. Specifically, we’ll generate the face, 2D adaptive, 2D pocket, 2D contour, and drill toolpaths for the demonstration model. To complete the course, you’ll also learn how to use the Simulation option to visualize the new toolpaths, and how to output the CNC code required to machine a model.

Fusion Simulation software offers a rich set of analysis types to simulate real-world problems. Whether it’s simple static stress, optimizing a shape to reduce weight, or simulating a bird hitting an airplane, it’s all there. One of the biggest challenges is setting up the simulation properly so the results are reasonable. Interpretation of results to selecting the best alternative for manufacturing is another challenge. While demystifying simulation with tips and tricks from community forums, we will also highlight the pitfalls one needs to avoid. Collaboration and knowledge sharing are key to mastering simulation tools.

During this hands-on lab, you will learn how to use the best and latest 3ds Max productivity tools to speed up your CAD-based design animation workflows. After participating in the lab, you will understand which material types are the best to use for your Revit, Civil 3D, InfraWorks, or Inventor projects. In addition to rendering traditional still images, you will learn how to embed liquid simulations in your projects and you will be able to render your project ready to be used in VR on time and on budget.

This class will walk though techniques for preparing geometry for simulation. We'll cover hints that will help you to identify potentially problematic areas, and then we'll show you how to quickly repair models, remove unneeded detail, and optimize the geometry in a way that will help you to create a high-quality finite element analysis (FEA) or computational fluid dynamics (CFD) mesh.

In this hands-on lab, we will explore the simple, powerful, round-trip workflow between Revit 2017 software and Robot Structural Analysis Professional 2017 software. We'll start with a simple structural model of a building in Revit software, and we’ll develop an understanding of the analytical model that Revit software builds concurrently with the creation of structural geometry. We will then explore the Structural Analysis for Revit feature, which enables static and gravity analyses to be performed on the cloud directly from Revit software. Next, we’ll push that model into Robot Structural Analysis Professional software to perform a basic analysis and code group-based design. Finally, we’ll push the updated geometry from Robot Structural Analysis Professional software back to Revit software and observe that the model has been updated. When it comes to making sheet metal parts, there are distinct and complex issues that you run into. Solving those issues are unique to the software that you are using. Last year, Fusion 360 software added sheet metal tools to its already large assortment of tools (such as CAM simulation, and so on). In this class, we will explore some complex sheet metal components and how the Fusion 360 sheet metal tools can be used to address these complex features like extended flanges, punch tools, and complex flanges. From there, we will complete the process by creating a flat pattern and using it to make a drawing.

The first part of this session will demonstrate the latest developments in ReCap Pro software, focusing on features released since last year (2018 product year). Topics will include attaching Navisworks projects for visualization in RealView, video export, navigation improvements, and collection and processing of scans collected with ReCap Pro for mobile. We will cover new features and workflows in depth and with real-world project data. The second part of the session will cover advanced workflow and how-to topics pulled from our community forum and idea station. Examples may include mesh generation, point cleanup, registration of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and handheld data, editing, measurement, visualization modes, regions, and view states.

Discover how real-time game engine technology can help you to develop rapid workflows for real-time visualization, enabling you to iterate your designs more swiftly and efficiently. In this class you will learn how to use Autodesk, Inc.'s, BitSquid real-time engine to interactively explore and communicate your design intent. Your experience will be far more compelling and understandable when you use a real-time engine to switch between variations of interior designs, or when you use it to experience the build-up process of a bridge, an oil rig, or a hotel. In this class you'll learn how to set up your construction data inside of 3ds Max software in order to create a data set that can be explored and lit directly in the game engine. To underline the power of using BitSquid engine for real-time visualization, we will use a data set to simulate evacuation procedures in case of catastrophic events such as fire or explosion.

Autodesk Inventor software can be used to save time, money, and scrap in manufacturing. Successfully manufacturing a product is not only about the final product, it also includes how you get there. In this class, we will show you how to use Inventor to work backwards to develop all the process steps of manufacturing a part. You first design the finished part you need, then use iParts and iLogic to engineer all the steps that are needed to get from a block of steel to a finished part. We will show you a workflow that takes advantage of the associative abilities of the "i" tools. As your finished product evolves, all of the production steps change as well. This workflow enables you to develop documentation for inspection, fabrication, work holding, fixturing, and machining 3D models of each progression. You can use stress analysis of parts in process to ensure that the process won't damage the final product. We will also offer tips and tricks that will help manufacturing engineers incorporate Inventor on the shop floor.

Fusion 360 software is a complete product-design tool that enables users to go from concept to production with integrated CAD, CAM, and CAE technology. We hear that a lot, but in reality, what does it actually mean? Is it the Swiss Army knife of design software? Can it do everything? This class will take attendees through the complete design and manufacturing process, from initial concept scribbles all the way through to generating files for 3D printing and toolpaths for a computer numerical control (CNC) job. We'll kick off with bringing some drawings into the Fusion 360 environment and using them as template. Then we will move on to some basic simulations, carrying out a design change and generating some communication visuals with custom materials. Finally, we'll hit up the Manufacture workspace to generate some toolpaths for CNC machining and potentially fire up a CNC machine (using Fusion Team to share tool libraries).

In this class the attendees will see the workflow used for taking results from Autodesk, Inc.'s, simulation products to its Media & Entertainment products (Showcase software, 3ds Max software, and VRED software) for high-end visualization, rendering, and video production.

A carefully planned BIM workflow enabled the design team to create both coordination and structural analysis models for a structure with highly complex geometry extremely fast and efficiently. Using AutoCAD® as a central hub of geometric definitions, the design team was able to communicate seamlessly between Rhinoceros®, Revit®-based software, and SAP2000®. This resulted in the architecture, coordination, and analysis models all matching each other perfectly while also making it easy to track changes and update the models as the design progressed.
