This case study will explore the transformative impact that Forma software has on environmental simulations and urban design, empowering designers to reclaim tasks that have traditionally relied on specific experts or skilled individuals. Using Forma, we’ve achieved remarkable milestones, including a 400% increase in implementation projects, a tenfold expansion in the diversity of simulations, and an 80% cost reduction. These advancements are “democratizing simulations,” making them accessible to a wider range of designers. Additionally, we’ve customized libraries and workflows to align with Japan-specific regulations, resulting in a 300% increase in implementation projects and a reduction in the lead time for initial outputs by a third. Through innovative application of Forma, designers have experienced significant improvements in both the scope and speed of their work. In this session, we’ll share detailed insights into our workflow, the challenges we’ve faced, and the solutions we’ve developed.

In today’s fast-paced construction industry, bridging the gap between real-world conditions and digital-project environments is key to achieving accuracy, minimizing errors, and streamlining project delivery. Reality capture technologies, such as laser scanning, allow teams to document site conditions with precision. However, turning that raw data into actionable models and coordinating them across disciplines can be a challenge without the right tools and workflow. This lab will help you to set up a practical workflow that integrates ReCap Pro 2026, Revit, and the module in Construction Cloud to enable efficient scan-to-BIM and processes. It will demonstrate how point cloud data can be used not just for modeling, but also for coordination and clash detection, using mesh representations and cloud collaboration.

The future of sustainable, equitable urban design hinges on access to actionable data at the earliest design stages. This session will explore the ongoing strategic alliance between Autodesk and Esri, with an exclusive look at the new Forma extension for ArcGIS that integrates deep geographic information system (GIS) insights directly into design workflows. You’ll hear from Lake Flato Architects’ Urban Planning Studio, the Forma team, and Esri’s Professional Services about how the Forma real-time simulation and massing tools, combined with robust GIS layers—from flood risk and green infrastructure to demographic and zoning data—can empower planning decisions that balance ecology, equity, and economy. Through real-world examples and a forward-looking road map, we’ll show how GIS-driven design accelerates collaboration and unlocks transformational outcomes for communities.

When things go sideways in the field, what would *you* do? In this interactive, hands-on lab, you'll be dropped into 10 high-pressure, real-world field scenarios. Each one will challenge you to make critical decisions using Build software’s interconnected tools. Do you open an Issue or log a Form? Do you link Assets or refer to the latest Sheet set? The choice is yours—and every choice has consequences. Participants will simulate the workflows of real field teams: creating Issues, completing Forms, referencing Sheets, tracking Assets, and seeing how these tools work together to bring clarity and control to field operations. You’ll get to compare your team’s decision path against others and discuss what worked and what didn’t. This won’t be a lecture—it’ll be an immersive simulation that will test your instincts and teach best practices by doing.

Flex has more than 100 facilities in more than 30 countries worldwide, manufacturing a wide range of products across seven different categories. To extend our forecasting capabilities, Flex GISE (global industrial and system engineering) simulation teams developed a web-based comprehensive (Level 4) digital twin application that users can adapt to support different types of manufacturing. The tool combines the FlexSim web server and advanced data-acquisition capabilities to deliver accurate, real-time forecasting and scenario-based decision support. It combines live production data with simulation, enabling users even those with limited simulation expertise to perform “what-if” analyses through an intuitive interface.

This project addresses the challenge of optimizing a highly labor-intensive manufacturing process for GTM systems at M2X Energy, where welding and pipe fabrication dominate both cycle time and total hours. Traditional spreadsheet-based analysis lacks the ability to capture dynamic interactions between resources, workflows, and constraints. Using FlexSim software, we built a discrete-event simulation of the factory to model real-world operations, identify bottlenecks, and make accurate process decisions based on data. Combined with design inputs such as weld reduction strategies, this approach enables data-driven decisions to reduce manufacturing hours, improve throughput, and support scalable factory and product design.

Unwanted vibration can lead to equipment failure, structural fatigue, and costly downtime. In this technical deep dive, we'll walk through a practical modal and frequency-response workflow in Inventor Nastran software using a fully generic vibrating‑machine model. You'll learn how to identify natural frequencies, interpret resonance behavior, tune stiffness, shift critical modes, and validate safe operating ranges. This session will deliver a repeatable, production-ready simulation workflow for engineers working with vibrating systems across mining, manufacturing, and machinery design.

Early‑stage flood resilience design relies on simplified assumptions, limiting understanding of how site-design decisions influence flood performance. This session will present an InfoDrainage‑led workflow to quantify flood resilience at site scale through coordinated parametric design and hydraulic modeling. The session will show how InfoDrainage, Autodesk Civil 3D, Subassembly Composer, and Dynamo software are used together to drive parametric site design and generate inputs for 1D‑2D flood simulation. Rule‑based design logic enables rapid, repeatable generation of site grading and flood mitigation solutions using Dynamo Player. The resulting BIM‑ready terrain and surface models support scenario testing across exceedance and climate change scenarios.

Tunnel rehabilitation projects lack a single, bulletproof workflow for comparing complex point cloud data with design corridors. Instead of chasing a one-size-fits-all solution, successful projects require selecting the right toolset for the specific job. This session explores the current state of the art in working with tunnel point cloud meshes using ReCap, Civil 3D, and Dynamo. Rather than presenting a single rigid path, we will dissect multiple methodologies, analyzing the practical pros and cons of each. You'll leave with a clear understanding of what is realistically possible right now, how to automate section creation, and how to select the optimal workflow to balance accuracy against automation scale.

As part of the Miami-Dade County Water and Sewer Department (WASD) Integrated Master Plan, Hazen calibrated one of the largest and most hydraulically complex wastewater models developed in InfoWorks ICM. It represented 1,038 pump stations, 3,200 miles of gravity sewer, and 980 miles of force main conveying approximately 310 MGD to three regional wastewater treatment plants that serve more than 2.3 million residents. The effort included long-term simulation and calibration using the InfoWorks ICM Ground Infiltration Model (GIM) to represent groundwater influence, detailed pump station simulation and verification, Ruby-script-based QA/QC and RDII calculations, and the use of the InfoWorks ICM model to simulate wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) hydraulics as part of an integrated system evaluation.

Utilities managing combined sewer systems are increasingly challenged to reduce overflow events while controlling capital costs. This presentation highlights how the InfoWorks ICM hydraulic model was used as the foundation for advanced system optimization in the SUEZ SEVESC wastewater network in the western suburbs of Paris. The calibrated InfoWorks ICM model enabled detailed simulation of network performance across a range of storm events, forming the analytical backbone for decision-making. Building on this, Optimizerâ„¢ (by Optimatics) was integrated to systematically evaluate thousands of operational and infrastructure scenarios, including regulator settings, pump operations, and real-time control (RTC) strategies.
