In this class you will learn how to create a detailed bridge model using mainly Revit software, a little bit of Dynamo software, and AutoCAD Civil 3D software as a data source for alignments and profiles. This class won’t touch the Bridge Modeling Revit software extensions—we’ll be showing tips and tricks for modeling from scratch to fulfill the required accuracy. Furthermore, we’ll be giving insight to a developed workflow that has been created for customers in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Upfront there will be a brief introduction about challenges that planners and engineers have to face when creating those very complex shaped projects. The bridge itself will be a real project that was designed by a German planning office the "old" 2D way and was built in the past.

This class will help you to explore preliminary bridge design options by using Bridge Design for InfraWorks 360 to visualize realistic civil structures in the context of the surrounding proposed site. Learn how to start building custom bridge components using both Inventor software and Revit software for use in InfraWorks software. We’ll briefly examine the InfraWorks-centered bridge workflow and identify where custom components can be beneficial. We’ll work up two specific examples using both of the available methods and covering the benefits of each. Then we’ll use those newly created components in InfraWorks and see how they can be manipulated to a final state within the bridge itself ready for the workflow to continue.

This program magically creates engineering-sensible bridges in your InfraWorks 360 software models. Not only is it amazingly cool, it is also amazingly practical and useful in the way that it provides a representation of a bridge (complete with structural members such as a deck, girders, bearings, abutments, piers, foundations, and piles) along with real numbers to assess its cost. In this class you'll learn how to create these bridges, understand what you're seeing, assess cost, and even tweak the design. You'll be surprised at what you can do, and after class you'll be chomping at the bit to get back to work to apply what you've learned.

In this class, we’ll learn how differing bridge analysis methods produce different results affecting the overall design and ultimately cost. We’ll then prove this by modeling a bridge structure in InfraWorks software, and then we’ll analyze the structure and design the girders using the internal analytical tools. We’ll then connect to Structural Bridge Design software to create and use a refined analysis model to show the differences, efficiencies, and savings that are possible.

This class will cover concrete bridge modeling in the context of a wider transportation project. The class will explore fast conceptual bridge modeling in InfraWorks software, and workflows to Structural Bridge Design software, Inventor software, and Revit software. You will learn how to rapidly model concrete bridges in InfraWorks and use the “built-in” analysis tools to assess the suitability of the chosen girder system against recognized design standards. You will learn how to use Structural Bridge Design to examine and refine the design and to carry out more-detailed analysis and design checks. You will learn how to use Inventor to refine the InfraWorks bridge model by creating custom parametric bridge components for use in InfraWorks, and you’ll see how to configure them to act as native parts. You will also learn how to transfer the refined bridge model to Revit, where you will add 3D reinforcement using new rebar tools and finally produce drawings and rebar scheduling ready for fabrication.

This class will cover the topic of bridge modeling, detailing, and analysis in Revit software. Designers can create a bridge using axis alignment parameters and assign a parameterized cross section. Substructure components, such as piers and abutments, are constructed as Revit families and placed in the project with reference to the axis. The user has direct access to the bridge’s and axis’s information. Modifications of the structure parameters are immediately implemented in the project. With the data already defined, an analytical model can be generated, and detailed analysis and design of the structure can be performed. Reinforcement and prestressing cables are modeled according to the bridge axis and adjusted in anchorage zones. Detailers can automatically create section views and place dimensions, as well as annotations.

This class will cover the workflow of how to use Civil 3D software, Dynamo, Python, and Revit software to model a steel arch bridge with a double-curved superstructure. We will examine the various steps in the process, such as getting the highways model ready in Civil 3D, using Dynamo and Python to generate a bridge in Revit connected to this highways model, and updating the design. We will show how this workflow was used to design a 300-meter steel arch bridge in the Netherlands. Finally, with our Autodesk colleagues, we will show how the InfraWorks software-led bridge workflow will greatly simplify the process of tackling such complex projects by capitalizing on a fully parametric approach, from concept to detailed design.

This class will show the key steps our team has taken throughout the last five years using Autodesk software to model, design, analyze, and document various types of bridges and viaducts. These steps demonstrate our evolution toward intelligent, model-based delivery. We’ll share the many challenges, pitfalls, and lessons learned we have encountered and gained along our journey working in various countries and stages of delivery. Attendees will gain valuable guidance needed to prepare their team, project disciplines, and clients to pilot new approaches for bridge design and documentation—and beyond to full BIM-based delivery.

Learn hands-on the creation of basic bridge components in Inventor software. InfraWorks software can accept custom piers, girders, abutments, decks, and foundations created as IPT files in Inventor. In this class, you will model a parametric pier in Inventor and use Shape Modeler to prepare it for use in InfraWorks. Once in InfraWorks, we will export the bridge to Revit software.

In this class, you'll learn from a bridge engineer who successfully designed almost 40 bridges using the InfraWorks-centered bridge modeling workflow. You'll see an overview of the workflow and get advice on how to implement it efficiently for a real-world project. Following an overview of the workflow that includes road modeling in Civil 3D software, bridge setup in InfraWorks software, preparation of parametric bridge parts in Inventor software, and production of drawings via Revit software, this class will teach you how to prepare a virtual environment in InfraWorks for ease of workability and sharing of data sources via Autodesk Docs. You'll learn how to exchange the road models between InfraWorks and Civil 3D, including modification of road assemblies for bridge modeling in InfraWorks. This class will demonstrate modeling of individual bridge parts, such as abutments in Inventor or Revit. You'll see the preparation of drawings in Revit and related fine-tuning of the bridge model in InfraWorks.

Ever felt like you’ve modeled a bridge too many times trying to catch up with road design changes? Civil 3D software and this class can make it easier! The class will cover the ways to use Civil 3D for modeling bridges. Civil 3D not only links bridge design with ever-changing road design geometry on the earliest stages of design, but also builds up the information model of a bridge to be carried through the following design stages.

This roundtable session focuses on the Autodesk® solution for design and implementation of typical overpass bridges. We also evaluate approaches for working with tunnels, retaining walls, and other structural elements that are common to road, rail, and highway projects. Attendees can learn how these structures can be initially located by the roadway engineer in the context of the road or rail model, further designed and detailed by the structural engineer, and finally used by the contractor for construction planning. Key to this workflow is the ability for all project participants including civil, structural, contractors, and owners to work in a coordinated way with the goal of reducing production cost, compressing project timeline, mitigating risk and improving the overall quality of the end product. This session has a live walk-through of the process, primarily using a combination of AutoCAD® Civil 3D®, the Civil 3D Bridge Module, and Revit® Structure software.

You will see how our bridge experts have embraced BIM in their design workflows from early stage to construction design using applications such as "BIM in One Click" for linear infrastructures or CABLOA for pre-stressing design.We will also share our feedback on 3D reinforcement design using Revit and its Sofistik plugin for rebar detailing and how to increase the efficiency using design automation. With 3D structural analysis being the norm and with a rapidly growing implementation of bridge asset management systems, the market is poised for an explosive adoption of Bridge Information Modeling (BrIM). However, there is no single black-box information model that incorporates hydraulic and structural analysis, geometric design, and plans production—and much less structural detailing! This class will create a process map for bridge design that identifies data exchanges from conception through construction. It will look at owners' bridge management information needs and what data should flow to the operation and maintenance (O&M) phase. Taking into consideration appropriate Autodesk® tools for bridge design and analysis, such as AutoCAD® Civil 3D® software, AutoCAD® Revit® Structure software, and their various extensions and analysis modules, the class will offer best practices for creating a workflow to meet the owner's, contractor's and designer's needs. We won't necessarily have all the answers, but we'll contemplate some thought-provoking questions.
