We’ll demonstrate how you can get results with high confidence using in-house material data. We’ll demonstrate the great advantage of having Inventor Nastran 2020 at hand during Inventor design work. Focusing on daily applications using rubber O-rings (and other applications using plastic components with large deformations), we’ll show which nonlinear material model can be used to demonstrate deformations and stresses in the components. Real-world problems are rarely linear or static. Nonlinearities often impact the prediction of a product's behavior in unpredictable ways. These add uncertainty and risk to decisions made from either virtual or physical test results for engineers and designers who don't understand them. In this presentation we’ll use Inventor Nastran software to mid-surface a thin-walled assembly and weld the parts together. We’ll then go through the process of validating our model and then performing a nonlinear static analysis with linear and then nonlinear materials. Once the existing design is validated, we’ll perform a light-weighting design optimization to reduce the assembly’s weight, and then we’ll perform a nonlinear verification analysis on the final, reduced-weight design.

After eliminating the loud combustion engine, we start to hear things like the knocking of the air condition system caused by vibration of fluid flow driven by multipiston pumps. Elimination of this effect leads to fatigue and failures. You’ll learn how to protect your design in Autodesk’s Simulation software. Progress is impossible without changes. Autodesk helps us make these changes properly.

In this session we will look at the functionality available to automate Nastran using iLogic and how this can be applied within Inventor. We will also look at some of the design workflows where this could be used.

This presentation will focus on the newly developed Topology Optimization technology now being used in Autodesk Nastran In-CAD software and also found in Autodesk Nastran standalone, Fusion 360 Ultimate software, Inventor Simulation software, and Dreamcatcher software. We will begin with an introduction of how Topology Optimization works, and then we'll focus on the Autodesk Nastran In-CAD interface for Topology Optimization. We will perform several examples that will include how to produce designs with minimized mass and maximized stiffness that comply with various design and manufacturing constraints. Examples will include minimized mass with stress and compliance design constraints and various manufacturing constraints such as additive and subtractive with symmetry. We will show a complete workflow that includes importing optimized .STL geometry and building a verification analysis model.

The recently acquired Autodesk Nastran general-purpose finite element analysis (FEA) solver has gained a lot of popularity, and at the center of this is the newly developed topology optimization technology now being used in Autodesk Nastran stand-alone, Fusion 360 software, and Inventor Simulation software.
