Unlocking Better Construction Outcomes with Data
The right strategy and the right team can help you turn data into insight
Many of us have digitized aspects of our personal life. The FitBit, for example, turns raw fitness data into insight about your performance and conditioning. But on the construction site, most of us are still stuck in non-digitized or siloed approaches. Data isn’t the problem—many teams are drowning in data, but 96% of data gathered goes unused, mainly because it’s not standardized or structured. So we need to not only digitize workflows, but make sure that there’s a strategy in place to leverage that data effectively and gain insights from it, according to Manu Venugopal, senior manager in product management at Autodesk. He shares efforts from companies like APTIM, J.E. Dunn, and Barton Mallow in which they have digitized workflows end-to-end, created dashboards that connected all their workflows in one place, and used machine learning to synthesize and structure data from past projects. Ultimately, Venugopal points out, building the right teams is what will help you develop the right strategy and processes to make the most of your construction data.

The Evolution of Roles and Progression within BIM & Design Technology
Over the past decade, BIM and design technology specialist roles have evolved in construction. But today, there’s a growing need for enhanced communication, connection, and comprehension outside of our respective specializations. This talk explores opportunities for individuals and teams to scale, foster efficiency, collaborate, and build international networks.
