Description
Intel needs to align on data standardization and the modeling of best practices to be repeatable and scalable across multiple projects. There’s a worldwide shortage and demand for semiconductors in all industries, and to meet this need, Intel is embarking on a $10+ billion multisite fab construction effort that requires collaboration between many general contractors, architects, engineers, and trade partners. As an owner, we want to enforce a modeling platform strategy and standardization of the data. This capability empowers Intel to repeat and reuse our models and data from site to site and from project to project. Unfortunately, we’re getting pushback from our partners to align and adopt our proposed platforms of choice. Without the alignment, the long-term implications are more rework, higher cost, greater risk, and longer construction schedules.
Key Learnings
- Better understand the complexities of the semiconductor industry and the torrid pace of construction and what to do about it.
- Learn about making the hard decision to enforce owner-required standards and platforms.
- Learn about giving up long-term gains versus appeasing everyone and being agnostic.
- Discover the importance of a CDE and standardization.
