This session will investigate how Autodesk Forma software can support transportation-focused projects through its out-of-the-box capabilities, including site analysis, massing, and analysis. The session will explore the integration potential of Forma with geographic information system (GIS) and Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) data. We’ll test interoperability with tools like Dynamo and Grasshopper, and also evaluate the possibility of extending Forma software’s functionality through custom extensions.

Nearly all design firms today produce intelligent models created by building information modeling (BIM), yet the rich data these models hold is often underused or merely labeled for "informational purposes." This session will dive into the transformative potential of fully integrating intelligent models into the contractual framework. We will examine the advantages of intelligent-model dissemination and envision a future where intelligent models are standard contract documents. To demonstrate this idea, we will present a case study from a $1 billion laboratory project at a local university, where intelligent models were successfully incorporated into the contract documents.

We were able to efficiently manage large-scale projects without delays by adapting Autodesk Construction Cloud and collaborating with project stakeholders. Drawing management relied heavily on Excel, which can be questionable due to difficulties in visualizing progress and understanding interrelationships with drawings and order changes. These miscommunications cause delays in 20% of projects. To address this, Autodesk Construction Cloud can not only integrate data with models, but also allow for better visualization, especially during schedule changes, with the goal of eliminating misunderstandings and material order delays. We achieve zero delays stemming from the procurement process across all Autodesk Construction Cloud-adapted projects. This initiative is then integrated into on-site construction progress management.

The session will cover how to use custom connectors in Power Automate to extract data and use Power Automate flows to automatically move, create, and update records in an enterprise resource planning (ERP) or database. By doing so, teams can reduce the amount of time spent on internal recordkeeping management related to qualified vendors—such as AP profiles.

Sustainability and cost efficiency for residential building is more important than ever. We will present with our customer Haas an integrated workflow from the configurator, an automated detailed design process in Revit to fabrication and the construction site. This digital process allows prospects to visually configure and calculate any residential or family timber house. These visualization of the customer's request via the house configurator leads to a faster and high-quality discussion with the customer. Seamless transition from configuration to design in Autodesk Revit ensures that no extra detail design work must be carried out manually. That model is transferred into the fabrication process and finally all data is leveraged via BIM360/ACC BUILD on construction sites for project and quality management and daily logs.

Despite the proven benefits of using industrial construction (IC), it still only accounts for a small share of the U.S. construction market. This session will briefly review the benefits of IC and how it may be critical to tackling some of the most entrenched challenges in the construction industry today, including skilled worker shortages and safety concerns. We'll examine how the wider use of IC will impact the existing workforce—both negatively through displacement of workers, and positively through job creation, different working conditions, and younger and more diverse populations being drawn into the industry. We'll also look at what is needed to prepare the workforce to benefit from this transition, including training in needed skills. Steve Jones, Senior Director of Industry Insights Research at Dodge Data & Analytics (Dodge) will present findings from a recent study commissioned by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and conducted by Dodge and WSU.

This presentation will revolve around a large industrial project to demonstrate the data workflow from design through construction, as well as the site data gathering for data visualization. By using the following software platforms—BIM 360 software, Assemble, BIM Track, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Power BI—the information from this project’s different components is visualized and combined in Power BI. Dax and M language in Power BI are utilized to manipulate raw data. Metric-based results in Power BI dashboards are organized tab by tab in accordance with different analytical functionality. We’ll give detailed examples to represent the information cross-referencing between the disciplines. This presentation will help different stakeholders track the progress of projects from qualitative and quantitative perspectives based on locations.

Interest in the Internet of Things (IoT) continues to grow as governments, companies and individuals begin to realize the potential that a data-driven world has to offer. This talk explores how the construction industry can use the data it collects via tools like BIM and sensors to feed into the wider IoT agenda and the benefits this could bring. We will discuss how we can utilise the data we collect for a variety of purposes including benchmarking and continuous improvement, while also considering how we can combine our data with data sets from other sectors to create greater insights for the industry, client, and end user. Finally, we will look at how we can manage some of the challenges of being a data-driven industry including data management and storage, pain/gain share, ethical considerations, and the need to recruit staff with different skill sets.

New Terminal One (NTO) is a passenger terminal set to be built at JFK International Airport in New York as part of wider plans to transform JFK into a world-class airport. Upon completion, NTO will be the airport's largest terminal. This session will demonstrate how Robert Bird Group (RBG) engages with project stakeholders, linking schedule data to model elements in an interactive and accessible environment that can be streamed in a web browser using the RBG-developed platform Reveal. Maximizing Navisworks, Revit, 3ds Max, and schedule data, we map the structure program to model elements, generating a connected link for ease of updates. The interactive environment allows any stakeholder to navigate, interrogate, control, and interact with a data-rich real-time model from any angle and at any stage of the construction. This allows users to highlight and adjust built assets that are either completed or under construction in a digitally simulated real-world environment.

As a main contractor working in a fragmented industry, Square Engineering Firm faces significant challenges when it comes to quality and cost management. In this industry talk, we will discuss how Square, a leading main contractor, in partnership with KEMET Corporation, a service provider with extensive experience in the field, has maximized the power of the Cost Management module in Autodesk Build in the management of all project contracts and payments. We'll showcase how the Cost Management module enhanced the visibility and transparency of project costs, which led to gradual adoption and all of Square's projects now being live in Autodesk Build and the Cost Management module. Moreover, we will discuss how we extended the value of this tool by integrating it with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, which enabled us to centralize data sources, ensure data integrity, and reconcile accounting and project management rapidly.

Today, we're pushing boundaries further by integrating Autodesk Construction Cloud with ChatGPT via OpenAI API. This integration embeds our files into vectors, forming the foundation for a Q&A system. This groundbreaking approach signifies a knowledge revolution, ensuring seamless knowledge transfer and accessibility, regardless of workforce dynamics.

Colas Group, through its soil decontamination activity (Colas Environnement), uses building information modeling (BIM) and new solutions to analyze soil data, map the impact of pollutants, and build a global vision on the volumes of soil to be treated. Thanks to Autodesk Consulting, the Ground2in Revit plug-in has been created to help improve performance and decision making. With its intuitive user interface, Ground2In allows for flexibility in the choice of interpolation methods and ease of extraction of deliverables useful for simulating remediation scenarios, estimating budgets, making decisions, and monitoring jobsites.

Imagine asking your board for one of the largest digital investments to date operating as a leading UK contractor in an industry well known for slow digital uptake. We put forward our business case three years ago predicating a 20% productivity gain. Our deployment of Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro is one of our most successful digital transformation projects, with 46+ projects and 1,400+ users engaged. A recent study across our multidisciplinary stakeholders comprising of architects, designers, supply chain, and a variety of general contractor staff has shown that 85% of users confirmed improved collaboration across all functions, team members, and functions; 91% of users confirmed improved visibility and understanding of design information; 77% confirmed the technology has improved design productivity and efficiency; and 86% would recommend the use of the tools to others. We will share details on how we built our business case and predictions, and how we delivered on this to create change in the industry.
