Sustainability and cost efficiency for residential building is more important than ever. We will present with our customer Haas an integrated workflow from the configurator, an automated detailed design process in Revit to fabrication and the construction site. This digital process allows prospects to visually configure and calculate any residential or family timber house. These visualization of the customer's request via the house configurator leads to a faster and high-quality discussion with the customer. Seamless transition from configuration to design in Autodesk Revit ensures that no extra detail design work must be carried out manually. That model is transferred into the fabrication process and finally all data is leveraged via BIM360/ACC BUILD on construction sites for project and quality management and daily logs.

When it comes to construction management, safety is our number one priority. This is because people are our most important asset. The time and energy we invest in keeping people safe will always pay dividends. With Autodesk Construction Cloud, we can document safety required by OSHA and generate issue tracking for following up. Utilities, retailers, hospital operators, towercos, and other companies may need to digitalize large portfolios with thousands of existing facilities to complete their digital journeys—either to fully benefit from building information modeling (BIM) in design and construction or as a first step for the creation of their digital twins. Those same companies typically have an inventory database that is either incorrect or incomplete, but that has value nonetheless, since it may be used to connect said assets with other enterprise solutions, including maintenance and operations management. In this technical instruction session, we will present a workflow for the end-to-end digitalization of a portfolio of facilities using a component-based approach. This workflow starts with any existing inventory, uses it in Autodesk Construction Cloud Assets and Forms to capture on-site data, then switches to Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro software and Autodesk Docs software for the intelligent modeling of the facilities, and then again moves back to the Assets functionality for audit and validation.

Despite the proven benefits of using industrial construction (IC), it still only accounts for a small share of the U.S. construction market. This session will briefly review the benefits of IC and how it may be critical to tackling some of the most entrenched challenges in the construction industry today, including skilled worker shortages and safety concerns. We'll examine how the wider use of IC will impact the existing workforce—both negatively through displacement of workers, and positively through job creation, different working conditions, and younger and more diverse populations being drawn into the industry. We'll also look at what is needed to prepare the workforce to benefit from this transition, including training in needed skills. Steve Jones, Senior Director of Industry Insights Research at Dodge Data & Analytics (Dodge) will present findings from a recent study commissioned by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and conducted by Dodge and WSU.

This session will look at the full parametrization of an automated rebar modeling and drawing extraction used for infrastructure projects using Civil 3D, Revit, and Dynamo. This idea advances the automation of building information modeling (BIM) for bridge and tunnel reinforcement by developing a novel workflow in Germany's most progressive state, THE LÄND. Using a parametric template for rebars, the study integrates Dynamo, facilitating the automatic generation of intelligent models and rebar schedules. This method was successfully applied to real, large-scale, bridge and tunnel projects, demonstrating its effectiveness. The workflow enables automatic extraction of detailed rebar drawings and annotations. By streamlining project execution and enhancing data coherence, this integrated approach significantly improves BIM lifecycle management for infrastructure construction. The underlying ontology connecting normative requirements, FE results, and our long-term experience is the final step on our road map for an AI-based reinforcement generation.

Andrew Cameron, project manager with Hensel Phelps, will share his insights from pioneering 360-degree reality capture on his project, the $1.2 billion Harvey Milk Terminal 1 at the San Francisco International Airport, since 2016. He and his team of 16 field engineers have worked closely with HoloBuilder over the last three years to invent and build out many of the workflows and features that are essential on tens of thousands of construction sites around the world today, including 360-degree markups and the JobWalk app itself. He will discuss how to use 360-degree documentation to drive value on a billion-dollar project for the client, stakeholders, and his project team. He will also share his experiences of how to successfully partner with construction technology providers to build the technologies you always wanted. To highlight the team’s successful innovation partnership, he will reveal the latest co-developed solutions to speed up and even automate reality capture on projects.

That’s where Unity Reflect comes in; a new product that creates interactive real-time 3D experiences for any device (mobile/desktop/AR/VR) from Revit in one click. It helps every project stakeholder, from ownership to design and construction teams, make the right design decisions in real-time. During this session, we’ll showcase how Unity Reflect can be used out of the box or customized (developed on top of) to give designers, architects and engineers the ability to seamlessly federate their Revit models for real-time 3D. There was a time not long ago that architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) was one of the lowest-ranked industries for adoption of technology. We won't go so far as to say that AEC has become a high-tech industry—but it is surely on its way. We've seen a massive increase in the available tech across design and construction. We find ourselves dealing with multiple tech providers, constantly changing products, and implementation after implementation with our employees. For the people focused on technology, it is manageable. For field staff, preconstruction teams, and everyone else, it can be a lot to handle and take in. We spend all this time implementing a solution, and a year later a new one comes along that we're expected to learn. Managing this with our teams has been a real challenge, and it isn't going away anytime soon.
