Before we consider paperless building sites and PDF-free projects, we'll need to accelerate the process of modeling and make it reliable. SOFiSTiK proposes Rebar Modeler and Rebar Templates tools for Revit 2023 and 2024. In this session, you'll see how easy it is to build your clash-free reinforcement models in both worlds: civil buildings and bridge and infrastructure models. Revit has evolved a lot over the last years, and SOFiSTiK has used the software at its finest level.

Automating a Complex Revit Bridge Model with Grasshopper, Dynamo, and Informed Design

This session will outline a workflow for creating a Revit model of a steel composite cable stay bridge by using a combo of Grasshopper, Dynamo, and Informed Design for Inventor software. Modeling a bridge structure poses challenges due to its complex geometry, which adheres to a vertical, horizontal, and super-elevated roadway profile. Consequently, the steel girders, beams, and connection details must align with this 3D roadway profile, complicating the creation and placement of Revit families. For this challenge, COWI used Grasshopper and Dynamo to automate the creation of steel geometry, parameters, and insertion points, ensuring accurate orientation for family placement. Additionally, Informed Design was used to transform various iterations of intricate steel connections into families, which were then positioned using a Dynamo workflow. The integration of visual programming and Informed Design has been vital in efficiently producing complex bridge structures with a focus on Automation, Integration, & Customization.

From Revit to Robot Structural Analysis: Automating Analytical Models for Complex Underground Subway Structures

Cerro Corá Station is not a typical engineering project. It’s a 50-meter-deep and 50-meter-diameter cylindrical subway station, designed to accommodate two future subway lines intersecting within a single structural volume. The central structural element? A massive cylindrical retaining wall with four large structural openings—a challenge for any engineer aiming to maintain analytical accuracy and performance. Manually modeling such a structure analytically is time-consuming and a potential source of serious design errors. To overcome this, we developed a complete automated and interoperable workflow that begins with the physical geometry in Revit software, uses custom Dynamo routines to generate the analytical model—including the segmental wall with its four massive openings—and seamlessly transfers everything into Robot Structural Analysis 2025 software for structural analysis and verification.

Coding Is Easy, Scaling Is Hard: Training and Adoption for Infrastructure

Bridge construction in Norway in 2024 is a different ballgame than it was in 2015. We've transitioned to full digital design and construction without drawings. This would have been impossible without a rich Revit API. We've created our own add-in, scaling from 10 users in 2019 to 1,300 users in 2024. What a success!
