This class will introduce the Forge platform from the perspective of an early adopter – starting with business aspects, paradigm shift, cloud concepts, and the future of Autodesk cloud platform strategy. We will cover some of the technical challenges with web programming from the perspective of someone migrating from a desktop programming environment to the cloud, and discuss how to overcome them. We will then walk through some simple yet representative code samples helping you to get started with the Forge platform through the Viewer, Model Derivative API and Design Automation APIs. HAKI produces and delivers modular scaffolding systems and tailored temporary access solutions to clients and contractors worldwide. The customers achieve ultimate efficiency and safety when assembling and working at height during temporary works, in a variety of challenging industry sectors. Immersive technology in construction has largely been defined as the use of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality or Mixed Reality tools to visualize proposed designs, identify and improve space planning, or to communicate design intent to a greater community. We invite customers who have a need to simulate thermal management of electronics to attend this roundtable. We plan on discussing and discovering common electrical computer-aided design (ECAD) and mechanical computer-aided design (MCAD) workflows, going from ideation, conceptual layout, and final design. Thermal management fits in this design process throughout and we will present some mockups on how we see the next generation of simulation fitting into the design process. We hope to gain insight from the roundtable regarding how participants currently manage the ECAD data and use it along with MCAD data to perform thermal simulation, where their struggles are, and what could be done to make everything easier. This session features CFD, Forge, and Fusion 360.

Beta customers for the new Inventor Design Automation API will demonstrate their Forge applications and share their experiences. Each customer will describe how they've been able to automate Inventor API and iLogic workflows in Forge.

The waiting time is over-and it's called Collaboration for Revit cloud service. This session will demonstrate how architects, engineers, and contractors have been using the cloud to communicate and collaborate in designing and currently building Norway's biggest shopping center. Using collaboration for Revit software, BIM 360 Team software, and the Forge platform to view 3D models, it has been possible to identify and solve problems more quickly than in a traditional design process. Workflows, tips, and tricks will be essential in this lecture.

In this session, we'll look at the Forge API from the view of BIM 360 products and provide you with the foundational knowledge for you to implement powerful applications and workflows using these APIs.

This class will demonstrate how Forge consumers can incorporate Google voice commands into their Enterprise Forge software. We’ll walk through a groundbreaking application where a field tech equipped with nothing but a cell phone can send voice commands to dynamically create a storage facility next to an existing BIM 360 commercial building. A design reviewer will be able to see and review the new storage facility in BIM 360 within minutes, providing real-time feedback. The field tech can use Google Voice Actions to provide size, material, and other preferences to make the model truly dynamic. You will discover how creating a model in the field can be done hands free without clicks or taps. We’ll also walk through the relevant technologies that made it happen, including Google Voice, Forge Design Automation for Revit, BIM 360 Docs software, and BIM 360 Viewer.

How should you manage your BIM 360 projects? Do you need to overview multiple projects—or 100 intelligent models in the same project? Or information spread in millions of objects? As a leading BIM construction company, VINCI Construction France is always looking to improve project management processes. In this class, we will present how a cloud-tools-based solution may arise to limit tasks that are time-consuming or have no brain value. This session will show the VINCI Construction France dashboard that was developed with the help of the BIM 360 API and the Forge platform to enable the models’ quality overview using data from the different bricks of BIM 360 software. This dashboard enables the firm to surface some insights from each BIM 360 component of a BIM project, and dive into that data to deliver better BIM quality through the firm’s BIM checking tools and methods. This class will present a custom Forge API development inspired by Sam Nseir's work: "Integrate BIM 360 data with PowerBI using R."

In this workshop, we will review the path and journey from Microsoft .NET to the Forge platform, and the tools and techniques that were used in the development of ProjectReady, our product that integrates SharePoint with BIM 360 software. At the conclusion of this, attendees will learn the integration between C# programming language and Forge, the similarities and differences, and they’ll learn about the SharePoint API. Attendees should have a technical background and a basic knowledge of C#.

See how the Forge platform was used to create a unique and interactive experience for US Olympic Museum’s Diamond Donor Program. The 60,000-square-foot museum is located at the base of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado Springs, home of the United States Olympic Training Center. Opening in the fall of 2019, the museum will act as an anchor to the new City for Champions District. The museum’s facade has 10,000 unique, satin-anodized, aluminum panels, and appears to be stretched taut like an elastic fabric over the building’s twisting frame. Each diamond-shaped folded panel is unique, which offered the USOM the ability to let donors adopt and sponsor one of these unique panels and then virtually search for their assigned panels and see their digital inscriptions. BIM 360 software is not just for models! You can use the tools built into BIM 360 to manage many different tasks in a collaborative environment outside of traditional BIM industries. In this class, we’ll explore classic collaborative issues that hamper productivity and limit the ability to transition to a BIM environment. We’ll take a look at how to implement a Level 2 BIM system to enhance collaboration and efficiency while maintaining consistency while also utilizing Forge to automate time-consuming tasks.

At Autodesk, we know there is a need for our customers to bring their work to the cloud for collaboration and automation at scale. If you’re a Revit API developer and would like to get started on Forge Design Automation for Revit, this class will cover the full basic workflow. We’ll walk through a simple example of a Revit add-in, turning it into a Design Automation application. We’ll go through all of the steps necessary to go from the desktop to Forge. This will include code samples as well as a working end-to-end example of both desktop code and Design Automation code. We’ll teach you the syntax for using Design Automation. We’ll show you common errors and how to avoid them. We’ll explain how to troubleshoot problems. You’ll walk away knowing all of the building blocks and have a solid starting point for automating your processes on Forge. The Web world has changed. Now that all the most popular web browsers support WebGL, 3D on the web is a reality. With this Lab, Full Stack web developers who also are 3D enthusiasts  will be able to create interactive web application and also get a head start to VR apps. The Forge Model Derivative API and zero-client Viewer allow developers to create interactive websites for all kinds of different markets where 3D CAD interaction could be added, and also full access to the metadata becomes available. This is a workshop on how to set up a Node.js server and client-side JS code to display and interact with any filename extension 3D model (CAD) using Forge - View and Data API. I will guide attendees through the entire process of building a simple application, including writing a node.js server, use of npm, hosting the web application and interacting with the 3D model by running different viewer JS extensions. This session features Forge.

Your customers want a mobile app for your Forge data, but is complex and time consuming.This class will show you how easy it is to build a mobile app with a customized UI experience that works offline with your Forge data.We will use React Native to build the native mobile part and connect it with the headless version of the Forge viewer and Forge API.Intermediate web development experience required. Autodesk Forge is an on-demand web services platform. That means you need to be online to connect to the Autodesk servers to use the various Forge APIs. However, the Autodesk Forge Viewer can work with multiple online, as well as offline sources. There are times where an offline workflow is preferable because of lack of connectivity, security concerns, or performance. In this lecture, we will explore how to optimally use the Forge Viewer in an offline mode, and how to cache and synchronize the data with the server for Mobile and Web applications requiring temporary offline mode capabilities.
