This presentation aims to demonstrate the ease of the Construction Cloud setup and what an administrator (Qatar Rail) needs to do in order to set up and manage Construction Cloud to address increased requirements and responsibilities, as well as additional interface between each civil design-and-build project and system integrator. We will showcase the process of how Qatar Rail selected the preferred Construction Cloud setup option, showing the pros and cons of each. And we will demonstrate management of the megadata within a cloud-based environment. We’ll also examine the establishment of a BIM policy that mandates BIM use on all future projects. And we'll cover the challenges associated with BIM implementation. Furthermore, you’ll learn how BIM can be an enabler for . And you’ll see how it’s used for the operation and maintenance of Qatar Rail assets.

Civil 3D Pressure Pipe is not a topic covered in many books or online tutorials. It assumes a basic understanding of piping, but in order to fully utilize all the intricacies of the software, you need to dive in and explore. This class will help novice users avoid pitfalls the speaker experienced when first using the program. We’ll also highlight many shortcuts you can use to help speed your model creation. We’ll then explain how our group was able to coordinate other outside sources’ piping, electrical, and/or public utility models with our pressure pipe models within BIM 360 software utilizing the Desktop Connector to find clashes and quickly deliver a final design to a client within very short deadlines. We were able to quickly create a site design for electrical conduits, storm, sanitary, and chilled water, within two months.

This class will showcase the power of the 2022 workflow of InfraWorks software, Civil 3D software, Revit software, and Robot Structural Analysis Professional software for civil engineering. We'll demonstrate how to create building site, platform, and gradings proposition with InfraWorks. We'll use Civil 3D to perform earthworks optimization from InfraWorks data. We'll link retaining walls for complex gradings from Revit to Robot Structural Analysis Professional for reinforcement analysis and detailing. We'll integrate the completed building site model in the real context in InfraWorks, which can be shared and collaborated on in Construction Cloud software.

This class will help you to explore preliminary bridge design options by using Bridge Design for InfraWorks 360 software to visualize realistic civil structures in the context of the surrounding proposed site. Then Structural Bridge Design software is used to analyze the bridge in the cloud. We run a line girder analysis to verify the structural strength of the bridge girders and ensure they meet design standard requirements. Next, we take the design into Navisworks software to uncover design problems and constructability issues more effectively and plan the construction sequencing. The InfraWorks 360 model is taken into AutoCAD Civil 3D software for precise grading. Then we round-trip the model back into InfraWorks 360 for better design communication. The parametric drawing tools will revolutionize the way that you draw and edit objects in AutoCAD. This class will introduce you to parametric drawing in AutoCAD by using both geometric and dimensional constraints to add intelligence to your objects. You’ll discover how using Auto Constrain and Inferred Constraints can help you quickly add constraints and change your process from drafting to modeling. If you’ve ever wanted geometry in your drawing to update based on changes that you’ve made to other objects, or if you’ve wanted to type a new value into a dimension and have the object update based on this new value, then this class is for you.

The data-rich attribution required for Building Information Modeling (BIM)-ready models often requires some level of customization so out-of-the-box objects can provide more value and represent level of development (LOD) stages throughout the project lifecycle. In this lab, we will progress through 4 distinct methods of creating custom attribution. We will start with block entities with attribution. Next, we will create custom properties via the Property Set utility. In method 3, we will turn geometry into a feature class and add custom data. And finally, we will use the tools in the Infrastructure Administrator to create an even more powerful geometry/data combination that will streamline some of the workflows that we just learned! In all of these examples, we will create, extract, and demonstrate data input/output flow for each method. As a final treat, we will jump into InfraWorks 360 software and learn the secret to making a custom feature class—now you don’t have to always put your wind-turbine models in the City Furniture type class! In this class, we’ll show how to solve a critical situation that might cause a waste of money and time in the maintenance operation of underground utilities of 630 railway stations. Lack of data causes major issues. To retrieve the correct information about the underground, we’ve established, for each station, an innovative workflow that starts from an AutoCAD file containing an old design of the utilities, mainly water system and sewerage. The first step of this workflow is the topographic and geophysics surveys, followed by a post-processing data and 3D rendering of the underground. Inside Civil 3D software, the 3D model of the underground utilities can be used to optimize the design of the sewerage and water system, and link them to information and documentation useful for maintenance operation.

This class provides a novel way of analyzing earthworks' logistics in linear projects such as railways and highways. As the availability of 3D models increases in the tender phase of Danish state-owned infrastructure projects, new possibilities emerge for the analyzing, estimating, and planning of construction projects. Freely available geographic information system (GIS) data, aerial imagery, and digital terrain models provide a basis for detailed analysis of project earthworks. A workflow using AutoCAD Civil 3D software, InfraWorks software, and Rhino-Grasshopper software is described, and examples of the results are shown using visualizations created in InfraWorks software.

Intended for intermediate to advanced AutoCAD Civil 3D users, this class is designed to show land development professionals workflows for brokering data between AutoCAD Civil 3D software and Hydrologic Engineering Center’s River Analysis System (HEC-RAS) for the creation of detailed floodplain analysis. Using terrain data from both LiDAR and grading objects, this class will demonstrate how 1D and 2D hydraulic floodplain simulations can be quickly created from AutoCAD Civil 3D designs. With DEM terrain aggregation and geometric editing functionalities recently added in the newest releases of HEC-RAS version 5.0.7 from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this class will focus on techniques and nuances for setting up your HEC-RAS model and getting simulated results back into AutoCAD Civil 3D for the creation of detailed work maps. Utilizing only AutoCAD Civil 3D and open-source programs, this class will demonstrate how to successfully integrate HEC-RAS simulations with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
