Stephen Hooper opens the Summit to share how Autodesk is shaping the factory of the future through Digital Workplaces, AI-driven simulation, and open data models.

Then, Stephen invites representatives from Motherson SAS on stage to share their organizational strategy for in the factory. CEO Frederic Boumaza and CIO Praveen Chinta will discuss their approach to planning, deploying, and maintaining a Digital Workplace, and how they included business stakeholders and technology in the decision-making process. Using Autodesk Platform Services (APS), Inventor, and FlexSim, they have implemented solutions for building optimization, production optimization, and real-time monitoring, leading to outcomes like increased energy efficiency, reduced downtime, and improved production flexibility.

 

Process bottlenecks and related issues often require complex and dynamic solutions. Discover how FlexSim recommends process improvements from live data, and see how the FlexSim OptQuest optimization engine solves multidimensional problems. OptQuest uses machine learning to evaluate multiparameter input groups in order to strategically determine optimal outcomes across various performance objectives. This method provides faster and more intelligent solutions to intricate problems than manual techniques do. In scenarios with constantly evolving operational inputs, FlexSim can be configured as a live Digital Workplace, continuously operating at set intervals, and using live data streams based on system feedback and artificial intelligence (AI) predictions. This approach necessitates specific model programming, which we will explore. By implementing these advanced techniques, businesses can significantly improve their process optimization capabilities, addressing complex challenges more effectively than traditional methods allow.

This will be an intrinsic look into data management using Vault Pro software and the ways it can connect to your outside team. Utilizing the in-the-box functionality of Shared Views, Shared Data, and Project Sync, we will uncover the multiple ways you can share and/or collaborate with teams outside of your organization. This class will cover the use cases for each type of collaboration, as well as the technical setup for each. We will also touch on the cloud applications that each of these uses, including Fusion Team and Autodesk Drive. Additionally, there’ll be a quick tour of options to connect your Vault data to other applications, such as ERP system and Fusion Lifecycle software. Each of these solutions will require some outside applications; however, a working knowledge of how and what you can integrate to and from your Vault data is essential in taking that next step to a complete “one source” environment.

This lecture will cover planned functionality for Autodesk’s product data management software. This session will feature Vault Professional software.

This class will be a discussion and demonstration of using Vault Professional software (along with the Vault Revision table and Engineering Change Orders) to control and document changes to your CAD documents. The focus will be on Inventor and AutoCAD drawings, but may be applicable in many other areas. We will show how to set up the Vault Revision table for Inventor and AutoCAD, and how to use that along with Vault’s Engineering Change orders to control and track revision level drawing changes. This is one important step for maintaining an audit trail of document changes.

When loading data into Vault data management software, several tools are available to aid in the process of migration and data loading to make the process smoother. It is not uncommon for files to be in question during this process as being unsupported data or corrupt, or for them to be missing file references or containing improper metadata. These issues can cause delays in the migration to proper data management with Vault. Adding new data to an existing Vault also has challenges, such as the possibility of duplicate files. In this class, we'll learn about the tools available to transition into Vault, as well as merge new data into an existing Vault while mitigating as many errors as possible.

This class will explain how developers can create stable, successful, useful, and professional-looking plug-ins for the Autodesk Exchange store. We will explore basic elements, such as well-designed icons, friendly dialogs, and consistent user feedback and support. Finally, we will explain the Autodesk Exchange store publishing workflow, and we will cover a few tricks about how to market your plug-in.

This class will cover the basics of how to use app bundles, activities, and work items. Bring your own laptop or use the lab. This class requires basic knowledge of .NET, and previous experience creating desktop apps for AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, or 3ds Max.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) not only has an impact on designers, but it also impacts suppliers of construction products. Today even suppliers are required to provide digital content for a BIM model. Hilti Corporation has developed a seamless integration of their products into AutoCAD software, Revit software, and Inventor software. The second evolution is then the provision of tools for automatic placement. Based on a linked setup and own developed plug-ins for Navisworks software, Revit software, and AutoCAD software, Hilti has created an expert tool for the market. But it’s not only during the design process that the supplier can support digitally. With the integration of construction information already during the design process and export tools for AutoCAD software and Revit software, the simple exchange to jobsite tools can be achieved. The class will show how a customer can use detailed content from Hilti. Furthermore, we will give an inside look into the automated solutions found by using the Hilti Button. We are inviting you to this participatory research session to innovate and shape the future of Inventor software—and really enhance your productivity. We will use several LUMA methods to facilitate our discussions. The class will begin with a “What’s on Your Radar” practice to help attendees discuss Inventor software problems and assign them with weights. Then attendees will generate wide-ranging ideas on those pieces with no constraints in a Creative Matrix practice given a short amount of time. We’ll pick some of the ideas combining with our own preprepared ideas for a “Buy a Feature” practice to identify the most valuable areas for the Inventor Team to focus on. The Inventor UX Team will facilitate the entire session. Attendees need only to free their minds and speak out what the ideal Inventor software could be. This class will demonstrate the introduction of a new CAD drawing created in Autodesk PLM 360 software and the integration of Vault software and Inventor software using the Engineering Change Request lifecycle and the Engineering Change Notice lifecycles. We will also review effective practices, lessons learned, and advantages of using an integrated business system environment. We'll show a real live demonstration of Vacco Industries' Autodesk PLM 360 software configuration and we'll demonstrate the use of the PLM Connect tool (JitterBit).

In this class, you will learn about products in the Autodesk Simulation Moldflow software ecosystem that can bring fantastic and unique capabilities to Moldflow products. We will introduce you to capabilities that can help make your job easier, better, and more fun. The class will cover several products, including Autodesk® Simulation 360 cloud-based software and the Autodesk® Inventor® Fusion Technology Preview, which is a free history-free modeler that you can use to make simple changes to existing CAD geometry. We will also cover the Autodesk® Simulation® DFM add-on, which is a designer tool that helps you develop a plastic part that follows standard plastic design rules and can help you avoid time-consuming iterations between the Moldflow user and the CAD designer. You will learn about Autodesk® PLM 360 cloud-based product lifecyle management and Autodesk® Vault, Autodesk® Showcase®, and Autodesk® Inventor® Publisher software. We will also examine Autodesk® Simulation Mechanical software and the tooling capabilities of Autodesk® Inventor® software. Finally, we will introduce you to the Project Simulus Technology Preview from Autodesk Labs.

This lecture session will demonstrate the use of the Job Processor tool in Vault software, and it will highlight the tool's features and capabilities that are often misunderstood or forgotten. The Job Processor tool is perceived to be expensive and have limited usefulness, but it does more than create DWF files. This demonstration will start with configuring the Job Processor tool for use, including setting up special privileges granted to the job user, using the task scheduler to schedule the job processing, and understanding how most effectively to manage licensing. Once the tool is configured to run, we will look at different job types—off-the-shelf jobs to create visualization files and jobs to update Inventor software revision tables. Finally, we will see what added functionality we can unlock by using apps from Autodesk Exchange Apps.

A 2D sheet metal design using Inventor software is easy, scalable, and cheap. After the sheet metal design process is complete, production of the sheet metal design needs to be optimized to reduce cost and time. The same part/assembly designs that are created and stored in Inventor software can be used to drive cutting tools for all types of cutting machines. This session will cover the process of programming cutting tools to cut material in the most efficient manner possible using TruNest Multi-Tool software. The specific topics covered will include: maintaining design intent and revision control through direct link to Inventor software or Vault software; extracting 2D flat-pattern shapes from each sheet metal part automatically; nesting shapes together on each material to get maximum material efficiency using TruNest Multi-Tool software; and postprocessing the nested result for a variety of different styles of cutting machines. The postprocessor optimizes the machine cycle to maximize machine throughput and reduce wear on consumables. This session features TruNest Multi-Tool, Inventor Professional, and Vault Professional.
