Building information modeling (BIM) platforms and design software have opposite strengths. To get the best from each, it's beneficial to have them working in combination and complementing each other throughout the whole design phase. Doing so will also help bring BIM culture closer to designers, breaking the entrenched silos between the disciplines. Embracing designers in BIM allows for earlier implementation in the project and delays design freeze, as every iteration is captured in the federated model. This workflow proposes a fully integrated approach to the use of Rhino software and Revit software, describing the interoperability requirements of these platforms at the different stages of a project. Interoperability is a big challenge—we will review how an agile methodology can let you incorporate emerging technologies, and how this technology affects the design process.

This session will detail how to use Revit software and building information modeling (BIM) for complete load calculation with the help of API development, from power outlets to lighting fixtures and up to the main switchboard. In an underground railway station project, a total load of approximately 4,000 amps has been successfully calculated for the electrical system design. We understand there are difficulties to simultaneously use BIM for electrical engineering, 3D modeling, and 2D drawings in a single model. This case study will demonstrate it can be successfully achieved with great efficiency. We'll explore: 1. How to make smart families that are efficient and easy to use for calculation and 3D and 2D representation. 2. How to connect the circuits and pass the load upstream for the whole system, including UPS and duty-standby situations. 3. How to calculate electrical load from other disciplines, such as HVAC and Comms. 4. How to calculate electrical load from other models, e.g., electrical load from tunnel models to station model.

This session will explore how language learning models (LLMs) can be integrated with Autodesk Platform Services APIs for optimization of hyperparameters like structural design, reduction of material usage, and embodied carbon. We'll demonstrate this using Autodesk Platform Services to extract building information modeling (BIM) data from Revit models to train LLMs, generating intelligent-design suggestions. The optimized designs are later visualized in Autodesk Platform Services Autodesk Viewer, clearly identifying improvements. Using sample Revit models, we'll showcase how this approach has led to substantial reductions in material consumption and carbon emissions, such as a 25% reduction in steel usage and a 30% decrease in embodied carbon. Discover how using AI and Autodesk Platform Services can create more-sustainable, more-efficient, and more-innovative structural designs, driving the industry toward a greener future.

Across the globe, individuals and companies are working together using various disciplines and tools to create remarkable products, buildings, and experiences for today and the future. With Data Exchange, distributed teams can easily share and consume geometry and parameter data without requiring access to the original design file or authoring app. Traditional data-sharing methods may result in incomplete translations, leading to time-consuming workarounds. Alternatively, using third-party plug-ins to capture the complete information being shared can also lead to problems. Come and see how Data Exchange connectors provide a durable solution for interoperability and collaborative work, resulting in better synchronization workflows for seamless design development. This enables teams to focus on essential aspects of the design rather than repetitive tasks, conserving their energy. This class will cover the creation of Data Exchange connectors and their seamless collaboration across distributed teams.

Generative design is often seen as an alien parts generator. In this session, we will share how we incorporated this design exploration method into our traditional design process, and how we applied the method on a very typical welded parts assembly of an automatic tools changer on a CNC machine tool. With no specific expectations, as we believed it was already fully optimized, we achieved almost 20% of mass reduction, positively impacting the overall machine precision. And as a side benefit—we got really good-looking parts. You'll learn which selection method we used to identify potential parts for generative design and how we defined the success criteria. We'll cover the whole process, from multiple designs exploration up to production and installation itself. We'll also discuss our generative design rollout plan.
