Description
Designing overhead catenary systems is highly constrained and repetitive. This session will introduce a generative workflow that automates catenary design using an advanced Revit adaptive parametric family capable of handling more than 350,000 configuration combinations. The family embeds engineering logic and formulas that evaluate geometry, spans, clearances, and structural conditions to automatically select the optimal mast configuration. Attendees will learn how Generative Design or Dynamo drives this parametric engine, enabling the model to adjust the catenary mast as track geometry changes. The result is a smart, self‑adapting catenary system that reduces manual work and increases design reliability across long rail corridors.
Key Learnings
- Learn how to create an adaptive parametric family capable of generating many configurations with embedded engineering logic and constraints.
- Learn how to implement generative design/Dynamo workflows that automatically evaluate geometry and clearances to get optimal configuration.
- Learn how to integrate alignment and structural data into a rule‑driven parametric engine that self‑adjusts catenary behavior as conditions change.
- Learn how to create Dynamo workflows and connect them to validate outputs and refine automated catenary decisions.
