The class will cover the Last Planner principles developed by the Lean Institute and how the software supports this principle. The benefits of adopting the Last Planner principles include increased reliability, greater savings in time and cost, less wastage of materials, and greater utilization of plant. The benefits are further enhanced by collaboration with the supply chain, where they can review their elements of a plan in line with main contractors, and feed into BIM 360 Plan web service, therefore streamlining interactions. The gains made through BIM 360 Plan in this process (such as staying in the field longer) reduce time spent compiling reports in the office and improve Planed Percentage Complete (PPC) with accountability for lost time weekly—enabling root-cause analysis to aid in targeted software and provide a platform for detailed whole project as-built data. DPR Construction has kept a close eye on the development and implementation of the entire BIM 360 software suite of tools, including the highly anticipated release of BIM 360 Plan software. On the surface, it appears that all of the functionality and integration between BIM 360 software’s tools are now ready for prime time. This presentation will share real-world feedback, process workflows, success stories, and lessons learned from multiple projects located across the United States. The common theme across all projects is that the same core technology in BIM 360 software is implemented in different ways to varying degrees, and the recipe for success does not lie in the technology itself. Instead, it is how we gather the right people together at the right time to develop a process strategy that will support successful implementation. We will recommend a high-level implementation and training approach to help any company better plan for successful adoption of technology, including BIM 360 Glue software, BIM 360 Field software, and now BIM 360 Plan software.

Many BIM execution plans set good requirements for modeling and model management. However, many forget about managing the schedule. This session will focus on how to create and mange a detailed schedule. We will explore strategies and options for telling the BIM coordination story through the schedule using BIM 360 Plan and Microsoft Excel. We will also talk about applying the 6 Ps (Prior Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance) and how to avoid creating lessons learned by managing the schedule.

This class will teach you how to use your BIM Execution Plan + your Navisworks clash tests + pull planning + BIM 360 issues, to get coordination out of the weekly rut and stay ahead of the construction schedule. This gives order to clash coordination and puts it on the entire team's radar.

MWH are a global engineering and construction management company who build some of the world’s largest wastewater treatment plants. MWH in conjunction with Autodesk Consulting have implemented an innovative method to embed the construction Inspection Test Plan (ITP) inside BIM 360 Field. This method makes ITP completion intuitive for the site manager and enables the off-site quality management team and project manager to monitor its progress. Zoe Robertson from MWH and Anthony Neal from Autodesk Consulting will demonstrate how an ITP that has been documented in MS Excel can be generated into Autodesk BIM 360 Field clearly showing the building elements that require inspection and what quality inspections need to be conducted. We will also demonstrate how the ITP process can be further streamlined by embedding it in the BIM model during design. We will also discuss the people aspects that need to be understood and considered when driving QA/QC completion on-site.

This in-product demonstration will explain how BIM 360 software now exceeds BIM Level 2 requirements for a common data environment, providing the managed exchange of project information across all disciplines, from design through construction and turnover. This session will emphasize several easy-to-implement processes for reviewing and approving document sets as key to passing data efficiently through the 4 BIM Level 2 document states of Work-In-Progress (WIP), Shared, Published, and Archive. The agenda will include the following: the BIM Level 2 common data environment: essential and dispensable; assigning BIM Level 2-compliant custom attributes; using BIM 360 Document Sets as information delivery plans; accelerating WIP collaboration with BIM 360 Design; BIM Level 2 review and approval in BIM 360 Document Management; resolving model clashes in BIM 360 Model Coordination; and digital constructability reviews with InfraWorks software and BIM 360.

BAM has developed a technical delivery solution to manage and deliver data throughout the different stages of a project using Autodesk's desktop and cloud products. This process is aligned to best industry standards (BS/PAS 1192-2). COBie is BAM's way of cleverly dealing with data as a project is being delivered. Empowering BAM's supply chain to capture and populate this data in a simple, no-fuss manner has been key to our success. BAM has worked with Autodesk to develop a new computer-aided facility management system for facilities management called BIM 360 Ops (formerly Building Ops). Having this system in place as the buildings operator has let BAM use the best of BIM 360 Field software during project delivery. It is this systems integration that has helped BAM to achieve significant cost and timesavings. The principle case study carried out by BAM compares how 2 similar public-private partnership projects were procured and delivered-one with BIM technology, and the other without.

Traditionally, price has been the sole factor considered in selection of construction contractors by project owners, and in awarding subcontracts further down the supply chain. Best-value procurement enables other factors (such as qualifications, schedule, quality, and performance-based criteria) to evaluate and select subcontractors, with the ultimate goal of providing the highest value for the end customer. BIM 360 cloud services have enabled owners and contractors working on thousands of projects to collaborate with their supply chain and access critical project data throughout the building-construction lifecycle. But it also keeps a record of this data, which can be analyzed to surface insights into supply chain performance. This class will focus on how contractors can now use objective indicators of past performance as a means for selection of their supply chain. In the AU 2021, I am planning to present how BIM 360 can help for Design Collaboration, Review and Issues Management between multiple disciplines in the same company or different companies. In WME, how we make use of BIM 360 for various design process and stages like design collaboration, design review, transmittal creation and Issues management. These features are helping us to collaborate within our team and with external parties. We use various workflows for design collaboration, reviews and issues management for the effective collaboration. We use Desktop connector for Navisworks and CAD files. Now we are exploring model coordination and the new feature of Naming convention standard as per ISO standard. We are enjoying and exploring more on new features from Autodesk.

For this project, we used BIM 360 Docs software as a collaborative platform that centralizes models, documents, and meta data. This class’s main goal is to show how Brunet Saunier Architecture implemented and used BIM 360 Docs workflows on a large hospital project in Paris, France. The first part will cover design and construction phases for one of the Lariboisière hospital buildings (6,000 square meters). We’ll describe how the firm implemented and used BIM 360 collaborative processes to involve the hospital owner, as well as three construction companies (general contractor, plumbing, and HVAC). In the second part, we’ll cover the design of the hospital’s main building (55,000 square meters) and what is planned for the construction phase in the future. The owner conducted a procedure that awarded six contracts (disciplines); each company was asked to provide full intelligent models (geometry and data). We are planning on using BIM 360 to ensure the data is unique and consistent, and that it matches the contracts.

In this session, we will review the currently available APIs that can be used with BIM 360, and discuss new and planned APIs (such as Issues, RFIs, Markups, Submittals and Model Coordination).

As mobile technology comes of age on the construction site, the use of iPads and BIM 360 Docs software can now replace the paper plans of the past. The transition to this new environment can be smooth and seamless, or it can be hindered by multiple false starts. This class will provide a live demonstration of the complete process of implementing a BIM 360 Docs project for a sample fire-protection construction project. The lessons taught in this class will have obvious application beyond the fire protection trade, but limiting the live demonstrations to a specific trade provides clarity and enables the presentation to pay some attention to the often-overlooked fire sprinkler industry. We expect the live-demonstration approach of this presentation to provide a great opportunity to understand the capabilities and value of BIM 360 Docs software to anyone involved in the process, including owner/managers, IT personnel, designers, and installers. Building hundreds of single-family homes is a challenge impossible to tackle without the help of a well-integrated IT infrastructure. Therefore, we took BIM 360 software into the heart of our Enterprise Resource Planning (Microsoft Dynamics NAV) and helped our different departments thrive in accomplishing their tasks. Out of our fully integrated construction chain, we will show the window procurement, installation, and repair procedure as an example of how to interact with the BIM 360 model in our ERP, and how to exchange data instantly between the ERP and BIM 360. As the access permissions settings were defined already in our ERP, Forge gave us the possibility to sync the security settings for hundreds of projects and stakeholders instantly.
