We’ll discuss overcoming design and planning challenges in an infrastructure project’s lifecycle by using smart solutions, including highlights of the following: How digital asset management can help evaluate future demands for regional infrastructure development, and the challenges to be faced; how BIM can support the asset management long-term strategies to mitigate the risks impacting the operations and maintenance of infrastructure; innovative solutions to develop a smart transportation infrastructure system; the main controls to achieve a successful BIM implementation process; single integrated asset management system with sustainable and cost-effective results; guidance on how to create and follow a clear road map to achieve an effective asset management system; exploration of the significance of integrating CAPEX and OPEX solutions; and the importance of implementing an integrated CAPEX/ OPEX solution for asset owners and operators.

Network Rail is the owner-operator of the railway infrastructure in England, Scotland, and Wales, which includes 20,000 miles of track and 30,000 bridges, tunnels, viaducts; and employs more than 37,000 staff. In this new era of technology, Network Rail produces vast amounts of digital information and relies on terabytes of point-cloud data, 3D modeling, and instant access to information to help develop and maintain tomorrow’s railway infrastructure. In this session, we’ll show how Network Rail managed the challenge to move away from data drives and siloed working with large 3D scans and data sets. As part of their digital transformation journey, Network Rail used the Autodesk digital workplace and BIM 360 software as their collaboration platform to connect project teams to rapidly access big-data scans. Teams have instant access to the latest design software without the need for hardware upgrade or transportation of large data sets across project participants.

Ishimoto Architects and Engineers, founded in 1927, is an architectural design firm with experts in architecture, structure, and MEP. To achieve better architecture, it’s essential to integrate intelligent models across disciplines and adopt a holistic design approach. We use Revit software to create simulation environments and optimize overall designs. Currently, Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism is accelerating BIM-based building permit submissions, requiring intelligent models with vast amounts of data. As BIM managers who also practice design, we can immediately address real-world challenges and provide feedback. For mid-sized firms without dedicated BIM teams, this agile approach is a practical way to integrate BIM smoothly. This session will share how our practices have transformed our project processes.

As becomes central to factory operations, accurate insights into energy consumption are essential. In this talk, we’ll showcase FlexCon Helios, a third-party module for FlexSim that simulates, tracks, and analyses the energy use, power requirements, and indirect carbon emissions of manufacturing systems. Using the AU Factory Live experience as a real-world testbed, we’ll show how Helios enabled detailed simulation of energy usage across the live production setup. We’ll walk through the model and demonstrate how the tool integrates with FlexSim using Energy Use Policies and Energy Source objects. And we’ll explore how this approach helps manufacturers test system configurations and energy scenarios, analyze peak power demands and infrastructure needs, and estimate carbon emissions and energy costs over time. Sisk has been using BIM and innovative technology for many years on complex data center projects. Our Data Centre Business Unit successfully captured two Autodesk Excellence Awards (2020 and 2022). We’ll take you on our journey, and share the valuable lessons learned during each stage of the transition from BIM 360 software to Construction Cloud. The Denver International Airport (DEN) is widely recognized for its leadership in BIM. As part of a recent modernization initiative, DEN took a major leap forward by extending that BIM vision into geographic information system (GIS) technology—transforming how spaces inside the airport are mapped, managed, and maintained. In this session, you’ll learn how digital facilities and infrastructure (DFI) and GIS collaborated to build an 18-million-square-foot ArcGIS Indoors database spanning the entire campus using detailed Revit models. More than 7,000 rooms in this space management Digital Workplace are now spatially enabled and linked to identifiers used in asset and facilities systems. We’ll share key milestones from our 10-year and cover how recent breakthroughs connected Revit and ArcGIS workflows.
