Nashville’s once-in-a-generation water plant upgrade is using cloud tools and virtual reality (VR) to set a new standard for how critical facilities are designed. The ambitious project fits a new modern plant into a complex campus, and, notably, will convert a beautiful 105-year-old filter building into an advanced treatment unit. It will not only establish a climate-resilient water supply for Nashville, but it will also honor the historic site with thoughtful architecture and achieve the highest standards in project Sustainable Design. The design was a multi-year collaborative effort between 10 firms. Autodesk Construction Cloud was the cornerstone, with Revit and Civil 3D models brought together daily in a federated Navisworks model. This talk will cover how the live model accessed through Resolve VR empowered all levels of owner staff to engage in project development in ways not otherwise possible—from O&M teams providing frequent detailed input to City officials quickly understanding the site in broad strokes.

Nature-based solutions (NbS) are reshaping how civil teams deliver resilient water infrastructure. Yet integrating watershed-scale insights into detailed design remains a challenge. This session will show how The Nature Conservancy applied targeted training and InfraWorks and Civil 3D software to connect regional watershed analysis with site-level engineering workflows. Learn how to translate watershed data into design inputs, develop NbS concepts into constructible models, and maintain data continuity across planning and design phases. See how connected workflows improved cross-team collaboration, enabled earlier decision making, and reduced project risk in real-world water infrastructure projects.

Many stormwater design teams rely on workflows that bounce between multiple programs, require repeated file transfers, and depend on clunky spreadsheets. This approach is inefficient, prone to error, and difficult to scale across an organization. InfoDrainage, on the other hand, allows for robust stormwater design all in one place, and easily round-trips with Civil 3D software. In this class, we'll show where Kimley-Horn teams saw meaningful efficiency gains in generating RCNs and round-tripping storm drain networks. Drawing on Kimley-Horn's collaboration with Autodesk, we'll discuss how real-world needs shaped InfoDrainage to benefit both project teams and the industry more broadly. Mike Pizzino, InfoDrainage expert at Autodesk, will co-present.

Early-stage drainage design prioritizes speed, using simplified assumptions to test options quickly. However, challenges such as combined sewer overflows (CSOs), flooding, biodiversity loss, and wider community outcomes are increasingly interconnected and require a more systems-based approach that extends beyond the traditional boundaries of the water sector. This session explores how connected digital workflows can support the identification, design, and validation of sustainable drainage interventions that deliver multiple benefits. Using an anonymized case study, attendees will see how opportunities can be rapidly explored through parametric site-design workflows in Civil 3D and InfoDrainage, then assessed through system-scale modelling in InfoWorks ICM to understand impacts on flood risk and CSO frequency, volume, and timing. The session focuses on balancing speed, rigour, and confidence in decision-making, helping practitioners understand how technology, systems thinking, and proportionate modelling can support more resilient and integrated outcomes for communities and the environment.

Early‑stage flood resilience design relies on simplified assumptions, limiting understanding of how site-design decisions influence flood performance. This session will present an InfoDrainage‑led workflow to quantify flood resilience at site scale through coordinated parametric design and hydraulic modeling. The session will show how InfoDrainage, Autodesk Civil 3D, Subassembly Composer, and Dynamo software are used together to drive parametric site design and generate inputs for 1D‑2D flood simulation. Rule‑based design logic enables rapid, repeatable generation of site grading and flood mitigation solutions using Dynamo Player. The resulting BIM‑ready terrain and surface models support scenario testing across exceedance and climate change scenarios.

InfoDrainage and Autodesk Forma will soon work together as part of a connected workflow for site drainage design. In this session, you'll work with Civil 3D and InfoDrainage models hosted in Forma, using live references such as surfaces and CAD background data to keep design information connected across applications.   Starting from a site design, you'll develop and optimize a drainage network in InfoDrainage, leveraging connected site data to accelerate hydrologic design.   The workflow continues with dynamic hydraulic simulation, exceedance assessment, and review of results, followed by compliance-ready reporting. The session concludes by synchronizing the completed drainage design back to Civil 3D, demonstrating a streamlined, connected workflow from site model to validated drainage design.

The future of sustainable design isn't about creating more data - it's about transforming fragmented information into connected intelligence that helps teams make better decisions, earlier. In this panel discussion, leaders from VINCI Construction and Autodesk will explore how AI, digital platforms, and connected workflows are helping project teams access the right data, in the right context, at the right time. Drawing on major infrastructure and building projects, biodiversity research, and digital transformation initiatives, the panel will examine how project requirements, environmental intelligence, and organizational knowledge can be brought together into one layered system to inform design decisions from the earliest stages of a project.

What an owner expects inside the model has changed dramatically in recent years. The model has stopped being just a coordination artifact, it feeds prefab, production tracking, field deliverables, and facilities maintenance. On mission-critical work, and especially data centers, the stakes climb even higher because electrical infrastructure sits on the critical path and schedules leave no room for delay. The gap between a standard model and what is expected now shows up as measurable hours per project, and it lands hardest on teams that are already running at capacity. This session draws on patterns Augmenta is seeing across a wide range of mission critical projects, breaking down how teams are meeting demand by generating data rich models from the start rather than back filling detail under deadline pressure.

Ground models are the missing link between site investigation and infrastructure design. Engineers make critical decisions on alignments, crossings, and foundations while the subsurface remains a black box data arriving late, locked in static reports, or in formats incompatible with the design environment. GeoDin Ground for Civil 3D software is changing that. In this session, we'll present the latest advances in 3D ground modeling inside Civil 3D, including direct AGS file ingestion and autoconversion eliminating the need for a preexisting database and letting teams start directly with received data. You'll see the ground take shape inside Civil 3D, evolving into a 3D model that drives critical design choices and reduces project risk from day one.
