Although the character-animation process has been largely digitized, the fundamental approach has remained relatively unchanged for more than a century. Animators create performances by creating key poses, which they then string together in a sequence to create motion. They continue to add and finesse these keyframes until they get a believable performance. In this presentation, we will demonstrate a new approach to character animation that uses AI to transform the way animators work. With neural motion controllers, we use machine learning to model how characters move and behave. An animator then only needs to specify high-level intent, like when and where they want the character to move, and the neural motion controller does the tedious work of producing natural, believable motion. We will also demonstrate that by connecting this new technique with core Autodesk capabilities, we can create a production-ready workflow where animators retain full artistic control over the final animation.

Due to their nature, rail infrastructure projects greatly benefit from the adoption of workflows based on intelligent models and point clouds to allow off-site analyses without the need of the physical presence on the field. FSTechnology, a division of the Italian Railways, set up this workflow based on an integration of Autodesk software—including Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revit software, and Civil 3D software—with Esri ArcGIS GeoBIM. We combined CAD, building information modeling (BIM), point clouds, and orthophotos with geographic information system (GIS) and game engine technologies and added the construction program in a browser-based 4D solution with issue tracking. This is not only intended to monitor the progress of the physical works being executed, but also to achieve better control during the maintenance phase of the railways. All these combined and advanced technologies help us to monitor the most-critical infrastructures like viaducts and bridges, and factors of environmental interest and relevance, supported by artificial intelligence.

This class is aimed at architects and visualization professionals interested in learning more about the pipeline, best practices, and tips and tricks for getting a building information modeling (BIM) data set prepped for use in a real-time game engine. The majority of this class will revolve around work done in 3ds Max software, where we'll import a Revit architectural data set, clean and organize the model, set up initial shaders and lighting, and finally export the model for use in a real-time environment. We'll then bring the prepared data set into Unreal Engine, showing the import process. We'll explore how geometry, materiality, and lighting information is translated. And we'll show the process for making future updates to the original data set in 3ds Max, and demonstrate how to seamlessly translate these changes back to Unreal Engine.

In this class, we'll discuss how cloud-based collaboration tools such as Moxion and other third-party tools and Autodesk Flame software can help simplify and optimize remote collaboration such as live review sessions, and feedback processes in VFX Pipeline / Post-Production. This workflow focuses on Flame—a leading software system for compositing, color grading, and visual effects— and Moxion, a cloud-based platform designed for remote media review and collaboration.

This class will present a quick and easy-to-use workflow between Maya software and ZBrush. Maya is the industry-standard software for 3D animation, and ZBrush is the industry-standard software for 3D sculpting. Although both are widely used in the industry, it is not common to see beginner tutorials about the workflow and integration between both software systems. This course will try to fill this gap with plenty of examples and best practices. We will show you how to create basic meshes in Maya, how to refine the basic mesh in ZBrush using Live Boolean, how to go back and forth between both programs using the GoZ plug-in, how to export high and low-poly models back to Maya, and how to create textures in ZBrush and apply them to an Arnold shader, among other interesting topics. In the end, you will have a very good grasp of how to use Maya and ZBrush together.

In this class, we will go over all the latest details about the Autodesk Platform Services Data Initiatives from an API perspective. Access your design data in a granular fashion using GraphQL in Autodesk Platform Services. If you're a customer, developer, or partner and want to see the latest information about the API status for each of the three platform data areas, then this is the class for you. As you have heard before, Autodesk is investing heavily in cloud data with Autodesk Fusion 360 (manufacturing), Autodesk Forma (AEC /BIM), and Autodesk Flow (media and entertainment) industry groups. At the center is also the Data Exchange service that allows data to be shared in a specific and durable way. From authoring to access, this class will explain the details about each service and how to use the API to access the data. We'll also cover the fact that data can be accessed across each of the information models, and via Data Exchange, in an easy fashion.

A rig does not always start out using bones for the main animation. Sometimes we use other methods—and then we have to find a way to make everything work together. In this presentation, we'll cover such a project. We'll look at the methods used to get the final animation done while still keep everything so procedural that any further changes on the animation can be implemented without any problems.

The challenge ahead is to combine this expert knowledge with artificial intelligence (AI) to include more-natural ways of interacting with our tools while remaining precise and controllable. In this talk, we will discuss our solution to achieve this for content creation in Maya software. We'll present a high-level overview of the architecture to better understand the integration of the Microsoft Azure OpenAI services in our product. Then, we will discuss how we improved the inference model bridging the gap between research and production. We'll also show a demo of our plug-in in Maya software on a complex scene. You'll leave this session knowing how to prepare a proper data set for code generation from prompt, how to design a structured context improving the accuracy of the generated response, and how to maximize custom embeddings to handle more-complex use cases.

This world was designed to have one-to-one mirrors of the relationships formed between ecosystems on planet Earth, while being different enough to avoid an uncanny valley effect.
