AutoCAD (& verticals) Plant 3D, and Revit all have different workflows with ACC/BIM 360 projects and the Desktop Connector. After many challenging hours I believe I have finally found a way to explain the various ACC/BIM 360 workflows and would like to share this knowledge with everyone else who's also dealing with all these various workflows and collaboration options. Specifically, I'm going to cover working with Revit, Plant 3D, and Civil 3D (same workflows for AutoCAD) with ACC and/or BIM 360 projects. I'll also cover the Desktop Connector 15 and 16 and the differences we've encountered, good and bad.

Industrial piping design tools such as AutoCAD Plant 3D software are now sophisticated and mature tools in many capacities across the specification-driven, P&ID-validated, data-driven fronts. However, other disciplines are engaging with more-contemporary modes of design, communication speed, and risk reduction. This paper will discuss how complimentary computational-design processes can harness power from other disciplines such as 3D geometric dimensioning and tolerancing in product design, mesh backdrops originating from reality capture processes, intelligent AutoCAD-Plant-3D-to-Revit interoperations through APIs, through to the creation of specifications from legacy data fragments for seamless piping component file (PCF) imports.

This class will walk through the process of capitalizing on multiple Architecture, Engineering & Construction Collection products, including AutoCAD Plant 3D Spec Editor, Infrastructure Parts Editor, and Content Catalog Editor libraries to generate custom libraries for use in Civil 3D. We'll also review other resources, including creation from scratch using Civil 3D's Part Publishing Wizard and free downloads from the web and Autodesk App Store. In this class, we will present a general overview of the tools and features of AutoCAD Structural Detailing software as they can be applied to process and power piping design. One AutoCAD software became available to AutoCAD subscription customers when AutoCAD 2019 software became available in March 2018. AutoCAD subscription customers can now work faster with specialized AutoCAD toolsets, which include industry-specific features and libraries for architecture, mechanical design, electrical design, and more. A subscription to One AutoCAD enables automation of floor plans, sections, elevations, and other drawings; accurate design of piping, plumbing, and ducting for faster design with mechanical tools; and design of ductwork, electrical conduit, and circuiting for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical with MEP. Shaun Bryant, AutoCAD guru and AutoCAD Influencer, will take you through the benefits of the One AutoCAD subscription, demonstrating how to utilize the toolsets and make them available to your AutoCAD design team, regardless of discipline and industry.

In this class, you will learn to create custom content for both Autodesk® P&ID and Autodesk Plant 3D software. We will focus on using tools such as legacy AutoCAD® data, previously created AutoCAD 3D solids, and Autodesk® Inventor® to create the content. You will learn to create and modify custom symbols. We will also show you how to create and maintain project templates that contain custom content as well as how to copy custom content from one project to another.

Clients, sub-consultants, and approving agencies often have DWG™ files that get corrupted. This can cause loss of work and missed deadlines. Drawing corruption can range from small annoying issues to being unable to open or print files. This corruption can affect your files and spread across your projects rapidly. In this session, we will explore methodologies and workflows to prevent files from getting corrupted due to internal and external factors. We will review 7 things that cause drawing slowness, and we’ll show how to repair the drawings.

Have you ever wondered if there's an easier way to ensure that all drawing production staff has equal access to the company's CAD standards? This class will provide an overview of a variety of configuration, productivity, and management solutions that you can deploy using AutoCAD tool palettes. Tool palettes should not be limited to sourcing warehoused block/symbol libraries; they can also facilitate company-specific CAD software configurations, along with a multitude of other tools, to assist CAD managers with the elimination of inconsistencies across workstations, projects, and even offices. Tool palettes can easily become the "one-stop shop" for sourcing preconfigured, controlled content and the mechanism to assist users with configuring their AutoCAD (and AutoCAD software-based) software installations. Last year (Autodesk University 2017) we presented this class; this year we will focus on additional demonstration of the corporate tool palette sets we have deployed across our company over the past 6 years.

This presentation will walk you through the workflow of utilizing A360 and BIM 360 Glue software from a perspective of the natural gas industry. Witness the lifecycle from engineering through construction along with the key resource usage and efficiencies. Discuss lessons learned and key items utilized to make these tools successful additions to a Building Information Modeling (BIM) project lifecycle.

In this class, we will present multiple case studies on how petroleum refineries have implemented AutoCAD P&ID software as part of environmental compliance projects to achieve a reduction in actual and reported VOC and HAP emissions. We will cover a stepwise workflow process for owner-operators and engineering, procurement, and construction firms to follow, engaging various plant disciplines, including CAD, engineering, and environmental and safety, that are favorably affected by this workflow. Specifically, the case study will share a process for using data-driven drawings to achieve improved compliance with environmental and safety regulations. We will also supply you with the questions to ask at your plant, as well as the tools to begin driving your operating plants towards environmental and safety excellence (and reduced emissions).

Between 2012 and 2013, Autodesk Brazil developed content for Petrobras, which is one of the most well-known oil companies in the world. In Brazil, it is responsible for a large portion of exploration and production and almost all of the refining activities, creating and impacting directly a huge ecosystem of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects; equipment manufacturers; and construction companies. In this class, we go through the process of creating a new P&ID library and the 3D specs for this specific ecosystem. We discuss best practices and share lessons we learned. A Petrobras representative will be present to describe how Plant Design Suite fits into their business.

In this class you will learn some useful steps to customize content to use in your AutoCAD P&ID software projects. We will lead you through accessing the project setup and understanding what you can edit. We will particularly focus on accessing engineering items. This will involve creating custom equipment, inline assets, instrumentation, and lines. In addition you will learn how to create unique tagging and custom off-page connectors.

This class will explore the design process, the collaboration, and the data flows of a cloud-based instrumentation and electrical design project. The class will also review the advantages of cloud-based technology for this purpose, and we will provide hands-on interaction with a cloud project, so bring your Internet-ready laptop to the class. We will also cover the design and data flows between a synchronized AutoCAD P&ID software project and a cloud instrumentation and electrical project, and we will review the integration with AutoCAD software products required at the client end of the cloud-based project. The class will also have an overall focus of creating, modifying, and generating instrumentation and electrical deliverables such as loop diagrams, junction-box wiring diagrams, hookups, datasheets, and reports.
