Exhibition design of any sort has a unique set of needs based on event diversity, and equine and livestock venues are no different. The frequent transition of layouts demands a wide variety of designs. The Populous Equine and Expo team recently implemented Dynamo and Generative Design in Revit software to provide optimized outcomes driven by underlying data and customer requirements for future growth. Through this effort, Populous was able to produce detailed higher-quality layouts at 95% efficiency. This panel discussion will review the outcome of this exercise, focusing on time savings during stall and pen layouts at the conceptual phase, and providing a look into planned developments around automation and resulting BIM (Building Information Modeling) content. We will highlight the value of building your own tools and maximizing automation workflows, and discuss our plans for the next steps in expanding the applicability to other market sectors.

A short time after, the Victaulic virtual design and construction (VDC) department saw Revit as the future of building information modeling (BIM) software and transitioned to use it for fabricatable drawings and other deliverables. This case study will explore the first-ever commercial drone operations permitted within the rim of the Grand Canyon, and how the imagery captured was used to inform a critical water infrastructure project. Grand Canyon National Park, in Northern Arizona, is considered one of the seven natural wonders of the world. It encompasses an impressive 278 miles of the Colorado River and adjacent uplands and averages more than 10 miles wide. To support work to modernize the Grand Canyon Water System—which serves thousands of residents and millions of annual visitors—we used drones, surveying, and LiDAR technology to acquire high-resolution orthomosaic images and point clouds. In this digital transformation success story, we also employed Autodesk tools such as AutoCAD Civil, ReCap, Revit, and other Autodesk products.

Utilities, retailers, hospital operators, towercos, and other companies may need to digitalize large portfolios with thousands of existing facilities to complete their digital journeys—either to fully benefit from building information modeling (BIM) in design and construction or as a first step for the creation of their digital twins. Those same companies typically have an inventory database that is either incorrect or incomplete, but that has value nonetheless, since it may be used to connect said assets with other enterprise solutions, including maintenance and operations management. In this technical instruction session, we will present a workflow for the end-to-end digitalization of a portfolio of facilities using a component-based approach. This workflow starts with any existing inventory, uses it in Autodesk Construction Cloud Assets and Forms to capture on-site data, then switches to Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro software and Autodesk Docs software for the intelligent modeling of the facilities, and then again moves back to the Assets functionality for audit and validation.

Nearly all design firms today produce intelligent models created by building information modeling (BIM), yet the rich data these models hold is often underused or merely labeled for "informational purposes." This session will dive into the transformative potential of fully integrating intelligent models into the contractual framework. We will examine the advantages of intelligent-model dissemination and envision a future where intelligent models are standard contract documents. To demonstrate this idea, we will present a case study from a $1 billion laboratory project at a local university, where intelligent models were successfully incorporated into the contract documents.

Believing that perfect BIM models are essential for project success is a common misconception. This session debunks that myth, highlighting that the quest for perfect models is not only unrealistic but also uneconomical, especially for standard projects. We will discuss how stakeholder expectations differ, making a universally "perfect" BIM-model virtually impossible. Crucially, I will introduce strategies to manage imperfect BIM models effectively, using tools and technology like AI that help contractors work with imperfections as they do in 2D. Learn how embracing imperfect models can cut costs, save time, and provide a competitive advantage.

This presentation will focus on implementation of building information modeling (BIM) and Autodesk Platform Services within Qatar Rail Metro from a client's perspective. The key challenges we'll highlight include the collaboration of 100+ external contributors and the effective management of megadata throughout 11, simultaneous, interlinked project lifecycles (especially during operation). We'll showcase the key innovations and workflows adopted to overcome these challenges. We'll discuss integration of BIM into the project framework, emphasizing benefits gained from inception to operational excellence. We'll trace the evolution of BIM within the project and its impact on project coordination and efficiency. This session will demonstrate the current importance of BIM in enabling Qatar Rail to manage mega-assets and associated BIM data, and we'll cover the value of Autodesk Platform Services in optimizing workflows across organization to drive cost efficiencies. With future plans to double the size of metro, the presentation will showcase Qatar Rails strategy to implement connected BIM, advanced data analytics, and extended/augmented reality.

In this session, we'll walk through an end-to-end cloud-centered workflow on using large point-cloud data for detailed design using ReCap Pro software and the Autodesk Construction Cloud platform. We will share simple tools to prepare surfaces, intelligently decimate large point-cloud data, publish to Autodesk Construction Cloud, and collaboratively extract design elements (like curbs, gutters, median, walls, ADA ramps, driveways, and drainage breaklines) and assets via browser and take them into detailed design technology like Civil 3D software to generate highly accurate surface models. Users can also publish the extracted features and assets to ArcGIS to use the information across the organization. This is a workflow the point cloud industry has been wanting for decades!

Hazen has a strong vision for digital twin technology in the Water industry and we have multiple projects and clients where we are pushing this narrative. From HRSD SWIFT Research Facility with Revit and GeoBIM integration, to Aurora Water BIM-based digital twin project using Autodesk Tandem, and several other large greenfield projects where Hazen is using ACC Design, Build, and Operate solutions. We focus heavily on asset management and operational user cases with high impact and credible visuals, client feedback, and clear values. This also includes our virtual digital twin in Tandem that uses Postman to stream SCADA-type data to Tandem Connect and Tandem Streams to show the future of Tandem, and Info360 Plant for process modeling and analysis for a new greenfield project integrated with Tandem and all things ACC. We will tell the story of why Hazen is putting our name out there for these Autodesk tools and demonstrate why we feel they are important to the future of protecting water.

This session will detail how to use Revit software and building information modeling (BIM) for complete load calculation with the help of API development, from power outlets to lighting fixtures and up to the main switchboard. In an underground railway station project, a total load of approximately 4,000 amps has been successfully calculated for the electrical system design. We understand there are difficulties to simultaneously use BIM for electrical engineering, 3D modeling, and 2D drawings in a single model. This case study will demonstrate it can be successfully achieved with great efficiency. We'll explore: 1. How to make smart families that are efficient and easy to use for calculation and 3D and 2D representation. 2. How to connect the circuits and pass the load upstream for the whole system, including UPS and duty-standby situations. 3. How to calculate electrical load from other disciplines, such as HVAC and Comms. 4. How to calculate electrical load from other models, e.g., electrical load from tunnel models to station model.
