Description
Arup has made a significant commitment to sustainability in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry by pledging to conduct whole life carbon assessments (WLCA) for all its building projects. This initiative is part of a broader industry movement toward responsible resource management and sustainable development. The creation of "Zero," a digital platform for carbon assessment, reflects Arup's dedication to influencing design practices and decision making toward the reduction of carbon emissions. The platform benefits from data gathered from 1,000+ projects worldwide, and has been showcased at the Global Building Forum. This session will provide an overview of collaborative efforts (including those with Autodesk) aimed at standardizing a WLCA data schema and methodologies; resolving disparities between global and local carbon data sources' using digital technology to capture, store, and enhance data quality; and extracting design recommendations from data analytics to promote global sustainability efforts.
Key Learnings
- Learn about standardizing a global WLCA data schema and resolving disparities between global and local reference carbon data sources.
- Learn about the use of digital technology to capture and store data.
- Explore difficulties with data quality and extracting design recommendations from data analytics.
