    Description

In this session, we will present a research prototype featuring a web app add-in for Autodesk Fusion software that visualizes 3D objects in USD (Universal Scene Description) format using NVIDIA Omniverse. The use case involves an innovative product design process that integrates sensor-collected performance data into the design, setting the stage for a novel performance-aided design approach. This session will begin with guidance on downloading the Omniverse libraries from public NVIDIA repositories, and will cover how to develop a custom Autodesk Fusion add-in capable of presenting a streamed Omniverse application running on the cloud. You’ll gain comprehensive understanding of the potential and step-by-step guidance for this innovative approach, which enables designers to go beyond traditional Digital Prototyping visualization dashboards and optimize designs using actionable insights from sensor data to ensure products perform as designed in the real world.

    Key Learnings

    • Get hands-on, step-by-step guidance on how to render 3D assets in USD format in Autodesk Fusion interface via a custom add-in.
    • Discover how we developed the custom add-in for Autodesk software using Python, empowering a wide range of developers.
    • Hear about lessons learned from streaming an Omniverse application on AWS cloud to a front-end web client in Autodesk Fusion.
    • Learn about a Digital Prototyping of a mechanical system that overlays on the 3D model sensor data collected during its operation.
