    Let's face it, emissions from the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry are too high and one of the key issues is there are no agreed-upon processes for measuring embodied carbon. Join this panel discussion to hear a deep dive into how a group of companies conducted a proof of concept (POC) to address this complexity. Under the auspices of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Autodesk and six AEC leading companies—AECOM, Arcadis, Arup, Foster + Partners, Ramboll, and SOM—spent more than six months on this POC. The cohort of building information modeling (BIM) and sustainability experts from the various firms investigated the processes behind translating BIM data into material quantities to measure embodied carbon (EC). The goal: Identify best practices toward establishing industry-wide guidelines for EC analysis to create actionable benchmarks.
