Description
This hands-on lab will teach a repeatable early-stage design workflow using Autodesk Forma Building Design through a controlled case study of a famous, modernist, residential icon. Using a shared reference model reduces project complexity and allows participants to focus on workflow, not design invention. Participants move from site context and massing to environmental analysis and iteration then to facade and plan design options evaluated on daylight and solar performance, orientation, and layout design. The workflow supports continuity into Revit software, reducing rework and improving coordination.
Key Learnings
- Learn how to apply a repeatable early-stage design workflow in Forma Building Design to solve schematic design challenges.
- Learn how to evaluate design options based on environmental analyses and compare the trade-offs on plan design decisions and façades.
- Learn how to rapidly sketch out design options, increasing the number of evaluated designs within a time slot compared to traditional workflows.
- Understand how performance feedback informs design decisions earlier in the process, reducing the need for late-stage redesign.
