Concept to BIM: The Path from the First Sketch to a Finished Model

ATP has developed a systematic workflow to start a project in the right way. We’ve been using Revit intelligent modeling since 2011, and have identified it as the most precise tool for integrated planning across all phases of a construction project. Decisive planning from the start leads to intelligent models with high-level content, even at an early stage. What kind of Information should flow from a project manager to the design team? Which parameters need to be specified as early as possible, so that the data can later be used for cost management, tendering, and construction—as well as for lifecycle analysis? Preparing a solid planning foundation at the beginning of a project using BIM leads to an efficient and clearly structured project flow, eliminating the need for duplicate work processes, and ensuring a smooth path through all project phases. It allows for cost transparency and clarity from the start, avoiding unforeseen costs and leading to higher rate of client satisfaction.
