    Description

Both Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) play unique and valuable roles in supporting the life cycle of building and infrastructure projects. BIM provides detailed information about buildings and infrastructure assets while GIS provides information about those assets in the context of the natural and built environments and other vital factors, such as demographic, socioeconomic, and environmental considerations. The integration of BIM and GIS enables the project or asset to be visualized, monitored, and assessed in that real world context. The benefits are numerous: from being able to understand and change the design early in the design process to easily sharing design in its real-world context with various stakeholders. This presentation will discuss various BIM and GIS integration points, common use cases, challenges, and how to plan for a successful integration of BIM and GIS.

    Key Learnings

    • Learn about the benefits of BIM and GIS integration in projects and operations
    • Understand the importance of bringing location to design
