Description
In 2024, Porto Alegre faced historic floods that impacted more than 157,000 people and 46 neighborhoods, with the Guaíba River rising above 5.33 meters. With 142 high-risk areas mapped, the city needed urgent, resilient solutions within 12 months. This case study shows how Autodesk tools—InfoWorks ICM, Civil 3D, and InfraWorks software—and ArcGIS Pro were used to model flooding, design containment strategies, and develop resilient infrastructure for slopes and roads. The integrated workflow enabled the analysis of three alternatives, balancing cost, time, and performance. Autodesk technologies provided agility and accuracy, and reduced rework, supporting faster and smarter decisions. The project also advanced environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals through sustainable, inclusive, and data-driven planning, proving the critical role of digital solutions in climate-resilient urban infrastructure.
