Description
Large-scale underground infrastructure projects push BIM workflows to their limits, especially when dealing with tens of kilometers of tunnels and tens of thousands of repetitive elements. This session will present a real-world case study from a major Australian hydropower project where BIM was implemented across both design and construction phases. We'll focus on the processes developed to efficiently model more than 40 kilometers of tunnels and more than 35,000 rock bolts, ensuring consistency, performance, and constructability. By combining Revit, Civil 3D, Dynamo, and Autodesk Forma (formerly Autodesk Construction Cloud), we established automated workflows for geometry generation, data structuring, and model coordination.
Key Learnings
- Learn how to structure intelligent models for large-scale tunnel infrastructure to ensure performance and usability.
- Learn how to automate the modeling of repetitive elements such as rock bolts using Dynamo workflows.
- Learn how to integrate Civil 3D and Revit data to create coordinated tunnel models.
- Learn about model segmentation and data management strategies for high-volume infrastructure projects.
