Description
The introduction of visual programming tools in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry has introduced a generation of building professionals to coding. Architects, engineers, contractors, and owners are changing their own workflows by mass-producing custom scripts, and in the process, they’re learning programming languages and methods. The result is often drastically increased productivity and a sense of user ownership to design processes. Sometimes it breaks and sometimes it crashes, but once you go down the rabbit hole, there’s no turning back. Yet, many who want to start, struggle with finding the right projects, teams, leaders, workflows, and even tools to turn coding into value. And many leaders are trying to figure out how to scale the abilities and knowledge of one or two coders to an entire organization. This talk will address both perspectives, and help designers and managers in achieving what we all want: better and faster designs, while having more fun.
Key Learnings
- Learn why architects and engineers should pick up coding in the first place
- Learn how you can introduce programming workflows to your project and where you find resources to help you along the way
- Learn from case studies how successfully scaled automation workflows using Dynamo and Python created value in projects
- Learn how to scale the abilities and knowledge of one or two coders to an entire organization for exponential value increase
