Description
SSEN must expand its transmission infrastructure to meet growth in offshore wind generation by 2030, with an expected project spend of £1 Billion/year. To meet the challenges, a few key individuals, empowered by their leadership team, embraced Autodesk design & collaboration tools to develop new digital ways of working on in-flight pilot projects. With a mantra of "fail fast and fix," the teams delivered quick wins during live projects focusing on efficiency and re-use of data. The result was scalable project solutions for project delivery across the organisation worth in excess of £4 billion.
The case study will discuss how a practical people-focused approach took SSEN on a journey from 3D modelling on pilot schemes to delivering multi-billion pounds of infrastructure project work using a detailed set of BIM protocols and a well developed in-house design team. They will share lessons, successes, and tips for quick wins all while delivering the day job.
Key Learnings
- Identify and implement new digital ways of working
- Define what tools may help in the short and medium term to achieve quick wins to maintain momentum.
- Implement Revit in electrical infrastructure projects in a phased approach, allow existing 2d CAD users to upskill gradually
- How to implement Autodesk Construction Cloud in a large infrastructure organisation while delivering projects.
