Description
Clash detection is integral during the design process to ensure coordinated and ready-for-construction models are produced. A properly implemented clash detection practice will result in a reduced number of RFIs during construction, and ultimately decreases the costs associated with uncoordinated design models. An offline clash detection process becomes increasingly challenging in a design-build megaproject where dozens of models are developed at a fast pace. Therefore, there is a need for a cloud-based, collaborative, and centralized clash detection platform where the designed models are actively integrated and monitored collectively for outstanding coordination issues. BIM 360 Design software’s platform lets users conduct such a clash detection practice as it hosts live design models, and it provides a built-in clash detection module (that is to say Model Coordination). Learn how Model Coordination was used to clash and report on the LAX Automated People Mover Project.
Key Learnings
- Learn how to set up coordination spaces to house an entire project’s intelligent models based on custom division of the project scope
- Learn how to manage users permissions to provide appropriate view and edit access to the model coordination module
- Learn how to initiate and publish horizontal (DWG format) and vertical (RVT format) models by setting up appropriate 3D views
- Learn how to create issues from valid clashes, assign ownership for the issues, and communicate them to the team
