    Description

In the real world, most architecture and engineering projects span multiple releases of Revit® software. In many organizations, a question that comes up with every new release is, Which projects should we migrate to the new software version and which ones should we finish in their current version? This roundtable session gives principals in charge, project managers, BIM managers, architects, engineers, and others who are involved in long-term Revit projects an open forum to discuss the best ways of dealing with the Autodesk yearly release cycle. We weigh potential benefits ( such as added functionality) against possible pitfalls (such as hidden costs, features that don't work as expected or as they did in previous releases) and discuss how the decision to upgrade or not has to involve the entire collaborative project team. We also talk about the pros and cons of skipping specific releases.

    Key Learnings

    • Identify reasons for and against migrating any specific project to the most current Revit version
    • Weigh the pros and cons as to whether or not to load and use the most current version of Revit on in-progress projects
    • Pinpoint common pitfalls that you might encounter as you upgrade/migrate your projects
    • Assemble lessons learned on upgrading projects based upon real-world feedback from others
